I think he had one of those "stretch chains" attached to it...
When you floor it, the rope stretches, and that tension combined with the pulling force of the truck results in the truck "Popping" out of the mud.

wow i thought that ford truck was stock when it was first in the mud then when it got pulled out that thing was giant as well, thats some deep ass mud.
