DLHgn
So I just recently read another guy's thread about what router to get and all that jazz. Well, I was wanting to get tools later on this year when I have more money and was wondering what is a good drill to get for box building that will stand the test of time and be useful for other drilling needs. I was leaning more towards corded drills seeing that they're usually less money for more powerful drills and I don't want to go through having to make sure batteries are charged and what not before use. The convenience of cordless would be nice but I can wait until I have an actual paying job and a place to store more tools to get one. Thanks in advance for your response. Jhunt94
Just like I told the other guy, go to maybe lowes/home depot and check out some of the more popular brands. Get your hands on some of the tools, get a feel for what drillsfeel a little more sturdy than others. As far as the corded vs. cordless, I prefer the cordless since I have more freedom to walk around and don't need an extension cord all the time. I have two batteries, so when I'm using one then the other is charging. I have a DeWalt 20V lithium combo pack, it has the drill and an impact driver (which I love). All in all it's been a pretty good set. Just like in the router thread, some people don't like DeWalt, so everyone has their own preference. DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, etc. all have good products. It's going to come down to what you like, and what kind of money you want to spend. 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. Edit: I also want to hear other's personal experience with a certain tool. I have no real experience with a variety of tools so I feel I can't really determine if something will perform adequately by feel.

Skullz
What ever you buy, just make sure all tools use the same battery so all you have to do is get a starter kit with a drill and impact driver or something and later on add a saw or something else as you'll have the batteries to use with them. Versatility is key now a days which allows you to use tools for home and auto with the same battery packs which saves you money, and when the time comes you need to add another battery it is as easy as just buying the number you need. EDIT: Another thing to consider is the amp hour rating on the battery, there is no problem buying a 3ah for now and upgrading to a 5ah later on for capacity and run time as you'll have the charger and the only cost becomes the battery itself. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2

DLHgn
I appreciate the links and pointers but are there any corded drills you'd recommend? I don't think it's worth it to get cordless right now considering I don't have a whole lot of money to put down buying tools (and I have to buy pretty much all of them seeing as I really have none) and think it would be more economical for me to get a good corded drill right now. Triticum Agricolam
Cordless is totally the way to go. My corded drill almost never gets used. Bosch and Makita are my brands of choice. You don't need a super powerful top of the line drill for box building. Mid range models should be fine. I've had my eye on this drill for when it comes time to replace one of mine. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00N8I29X2/ "Nothing prevents people from knowing the truth more than the belief they already know it.""Making bass is easy, making music is the hard part."Builds:

Everyone seems to be leaning towards cordless ( I understand why) but I just don't see it being that great for my situation but hey, if everyone is suggesting it there must be a reason. Like Jhunt said, i'll just go to my local hardware store and handle it a bit and see what I like best out of the options y'all have put up along with some corded versions. Any drill bits or brand of drill bits y'all would suggest? I don't mind spending a bit of money on some quality stuff (would rather spend a lot once than a little bit multiple times) but keep in mind my pockets are definitely not that deep. If I have to save a bit to get some quality things then so be it but if not then great.
Skullz
You don't see the use until you get one. lol Once you get one you'll be trying to find ways to use it. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
