David Stone
Hi there guys. I just bought an NVX JAD1200.1 and a Sundown SA12d2 v3. The dyno tests online say the amp does 1384rms at 1 ohm @14v so I am guessing closer to 1200 on my electrical @ 12v. This is my first time setting up an amps gain with a DMM. I set the gain to 34.6v and it does not seem to be hitting as hard as when I just did it by ear. Am I doing the formula wrong? Do I multiply the 1200 by 1ohm (load on amp) then do the square root or do I multiply 1200 by 2 (vc ohms) then do the sqaure root? I would appreciate any help. The sub is in a custom built aero port enclosure built specifically for this sub. When I just turned the amp up to what sounded good it was banging like crazy and shaking the hell out of my 05 dakota. Set with the DMM it is loud at my designated max volume but not great at all. Am I missing something? Thanks
meade916
just guess your gains. Using a DMM (to set gains) is completely worthless. You will have the same exact outcome. David Stone
Awesome I will just do it like I did before. Run a 50hz test tone and do it by ear. Thank you sir.
tdsa23
Damn Steve at least sale your product to help him. Buy a DD1 or see if someone around you has one that can set your gains for you. David Stone
I will probably see if i can find somebody who has one. I'm on a pretty tight budget and have some other gear to buy so one of my own probably wont happen for a while. They are great tools from what I've seen and heard.
