caps inside the amps, like regular batteries, have a limited shelf life.

I believe this maybe true... I have two RF T1 15's. They are down almost a full db, 145.5 which I did all the time down to 144.8. I have changed amps, head unit, speaker wire, etc. Still down a db. I check the coils with a ohm meter and they check fine. I have even added another battery. I don't know what else it could be. The box is the same as well as the tuning. I went from a RF T1001bd to another RF T1001bd to a Sundown 1500 and still can't get over a 145 with these subs.

If you build it, db's will come...
NSPL World Record Holder Trunk 0-1800 watts---147.9 with 1722 clamped watts @ 40Hz(9-20-09).
Competition Only Record Holder Trunk 0-500 watts---148.1
2006 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE
Currently Rebuilding....
My 150db Plus Trunk Build
I do box designs.

I believe if the box is not tuned to the frequency of the woofer, such as wrong port length or box too large or too small it will cause the woofer to over work its suspension and overheat the voice coils. It may not have enough back pressure as well.

Your new L7s need broke in, Thats all.
Only run the new set for 2 weeks and they will sound like the old ones.
The suspension on the L7s is so tight that there is a dramatic difference in sound between a brand new one and a used one.(I know this for a fact)
The new ones will catch up after you get them broke in.
Period
You should be in the Kicker section.

A cap is only good if you have 0 voltage loss and want to clean up the power at the peaks of the ripples..
Boon: Don't get hung up on specs like xmax. It's probably the third-most lied about spec, after power handling and sensitivity.
"Giving up doesn't always mean you are weak; sometimes it means that you are strong enough to let go."
was the fact I won't get to find out whats going to happen tomorrow if I die today.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
The Destruction of a person builds character.
Hoo-Bangin' on the transformers
Getting my stalk on walk on "Skip skip"
Sack jacking purse snatching hoo-banging till I die

Thank u very much, although, I wanted it be a general woofer question and not just about L7 woofers.
