Currently I have a 250 amp EA alternator, the big 3 with 1/0 wiring and an optima red top under the hood. I was going to run two 1/0 cables to three optima blue tops. I have a birth sheet for my amp that says 4775 watts rms at 1 ohm(T4K) and the fuse in my amplifier is 500 amps. I was going to run two inline fuses for each power cable (4 inline fuses in all). What size should I use and do I need a fuse on the power wire after the third battery before the amp and if I do what size would I need because the amp already has a 500 amp fuse. Also, I was wondering if I would need more than three blue tops(I am getting blue tops because of warranties and deals I know Kinetik and powermaster are better). If somebody could answer all of my questions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I had a t4k in my cavi at one time. I had 5 yellow tops and the only fuse I had from front to back was a 300amp. You shouldnt need more batteries. I didnt get a HO alt for it as I didnt have the car long enough.

I'd say with the two runs of + just put a 200amp on each and you should be good. Under full tilt that amp will draw little over 400 amps.

You could always buy a 500A fuse from RF. Other then that biggest I seen was 300A.
That would what I would do is buy the 300, if it blows order it from RF.
But I doubt u will blow the 300. You have plenty of battery it sounds like.

I already own some 300 amp fuses I will use for the power cables but what size fuse do I use for the positive wire connecting to the amp. The wire right after my last battery in parallel before the amp. The amps internal fuse is 500 amps do I need to put another 500 amp fuse on the wire before the amp. Thanks

you could just be inventive and put two 250amp anl's on a post style fuse holder...

Do I need to put a 500 amp fuse on the battery cable right before the Rockford T4k amplifier.

I know that 1/0 can only take a 325 amp fuse but, I do not understand what size fuse I should use right before the amp if the amp has an internal 500 amp fuse.

There is where I usually get my ceramic fuses from.
How far away will the amp be from the battery bank?

You would be suprised how much current an 18" long piece of 1/0 can carry. :shok: Then again, you will probably never see that T4K pulling any where near 500 amps of current in a daily driver scenario.

I am not using a fuse between my T4k's and battery rack. But, as a disclaimer, none of my 4k's are farther than 2' from my battery rack and my truck is not a daily driver. If this vehicle is your primary mode of transportation, I would recommend fusing it as close to the battery as possible.

I plan to a have my amp no farther than a couple of feet from my battery bank and this is going to be my primary mode of transportation. Also, why would it matter if I drive it on a regular basis? Does the amp not need a fuse after the battery bank since it already has an internal fuse or is my wire in danger if I dont. I am getting confused.

Basically I was saying don't use my truck as an example, and take the safe road and fuse it as close to the batt bank as possible. :good:
