It only goes into protect at really high volumes. Voltage is 13+ volts at the amp. Its pushing a lvl 3 15 @ 1 ohm. Never done this before, we just re-aranged some wires and mounted the amp. I put an DMM set to ohms on the speaker wires and it sits around 20 ohms when the radio is paused. Any ideas of whats going on?

BTW: if you live at home at your age, what 25, and you make all that money, you are indeed taking money from them by not getting the fuck out, like a man. If times are tough you do what you gotta but you cant live large AND at home and still think your cool. I have never met a "playa" that still lived with mommy.

So nobody knows? I hope Pat bought this amp authorized.
But the highs amp is run from the same ground distribution block and it doesn't cut out. The little yellow light comes on and then goes off after a couple of seconds.

thats kinda weird. you may have a faulty amp. i know when my amp (t40001bd) dropped to a low voltage it went into protect but you said its staying around 13 volts. and i know that amp can handle 1 ohm

This is Pat's amp that he had in the Flying White Sasuage v1.0 and it worked fine for him. I don't know why its doing this now. We are only running one sub right now until we figure out how to get all three 15's in there.

Well I called RF tech support and he said to check all the connections. I checked all connections and tried to crank it again, and I noticed that it only cuts out on low notes(Blueberry Yum Yum) but it doesn't cut out on high notes (Break 'Em off)??? So I have no clue whats going on. :unknw:

20 ohms?? or 2 ohms? cause if its 20 ohms you got sub problems.

It reads 20 ohms with amp on and radio on pause. But when everything is off it reads 1.2 ohms.

And BTW I love your "modified" avatar!

That sucks to hear, I had no problems at all with that little guy

I really don't remember if I bought that amp from RF, or HDA, or new from a different dealer. I've had a few of those in and out of here...

Where did you mount it? - - Maybe the low notes are shaking something loose putting it into protect. If it didn't happen until you moved it, I'd move it back to where it was before.

Hope you figure it out, I'll do some digging into where that one came from.

Well before it wasn't mounted anywhere, it was just sitting on the floor, when we finally mounted it the problem started.

you cant measure it with the amp on it will give u a crap reading.... yank the speaker wires and see if it still goes into protect. Oh and untighten the screws sometimes if you torque it down to much you get flexing on the board

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer

Ok well let's see...

Rated Power
continuous power
125W x 1 @ 4-Ohms
250W x 1 @ 2-Ohms
500W x 1 @ 1-Ohm
Ok well you have one DC sub and it's at 1 ohm correct?

You are saying at high volumes it's going into protect? What kind of head unit? How did you set your gains?

Yea, its a DC lvl 3 15 w/D2 coils. Headunit is a pioneer DEH-P5500MP. Birthsheet says its putting out 1024 @ 1 ohm. I set the gains w/ a dmm then turned it down a smidge. Right now its less than half way. I'll have to go loosen the screws and see if its torquing the amp.

Exactly how are u setting the gain?

Sounds like you should be at about 32V with a 50hz tone measured on the outputs?

Your saying that when the bass hits and it goes into protect at 13V right, my amps can dip into the 11's when at HO.
