Well... as stated above, I got a 2004 P3001 amp that needs repair, any idea how much it'd cost?
took a peek inside of it to see if their was the tell-tale blown-apart fets (blackened boards ftl) and the caps were bubbled up (the two big black ones)

well, how much you think it'd cost to get her running again?

Probably more than the amp is worth unfortunately.
Being a Rockford the MEHSA is a total bastard to work on, high labour costs.
Plus if it's managed to mess up the rail caps it's probably really really fucked. Parts cost would be pretty low but yeah, labour...

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer

After 2 days of scanning each piece of this amp, I decided to see how the voltage was flowing through the caps, and I realized something almost immediately, my battery was reading UNDER 6 volts.
so, I thought, hmmm I wonder what would happen if I strapped this to a good battery and not one thats slowly disapeering into my garage,
So. I hooked it up to the Grand Am via the stock battery (just ran 2 wires and ran a loop over the REM switch)

and...

The Rockford Fosgate emblem lit up, and wow, these old 2004-2005 rockford amps (ya'll remember these ones, two shiny sides) are actually tougher than they look.

im gonna hook up a player to it later and see if she does anything :D

you may be decently allright. depending on the caps and how blown if at all they are it may still sorta work. if so id run it until it dies but be careful. anything "wierd" that might happen if it finally goes could take the subs with it. as long as ur careful u should be ok

Or so I thought...

I hooked her up to the battery again and hooked my 18 up to it, guess what happened?

My woofer sucked in.

I unplugged it quick and checked my woofer, still cool so no problems.

You know what it means when it does that, DC voltage in the speaker output, totally fucked over amp.
