Second, if you boost the DB of a bass frequency (am I saying that right?) wouldn't that be the same as the bass boost on the head unit/amp? If not, which would be better for the sub/amp - boosting the bass frequency in audacity, (for example, 46hz) in a song as many DB as possible to stay under clipping, or just turning up the bass boost on the amp/head unit? Assume of course that the clipping was taken out of the song with audacity, via lowering the DB of the entire song or some other way
third, when I turn the head unit to 0, it makes a loud thump. when I turn the car off, I get the loud thump, plus a little scratch from the sub for a brief second, as if it was blown/broken/you took one side and pushed on it instead of taking 2 sides to test if it's broken or w/e
fourth, if my box is tuned to 30hz, does that mean it's going to produce the best/deepest bass for songs with 30hz or closest to it in the bass line? I opened up 3 songs that hit hardest and they were closer to 50hz than 30hz. Could my box have been built wrong?
