Size of Subwoofer wire 1500 rms 1 ohm

Recommended Posts

I have a quick question, Im going to wire all 3 15 cvx subs together for a 1.3 ohm load to my 1500 rms amp.

Question is what wire gauge should i use on my subs, will 12 gauge be good, i hear i should go 8 gauge. Also i might upgrade my amp in the future to 2500-3000 rms. Thanks.

12 will be fine

honestly huge speaker wire is a waste until you hit huge levels of power

bigger is always better if you can afford it though

hell i ran shitty 14 gauge on 3k watts never had an issue, until it blew up... but i doubt that speaker wire caused that lol

By reading that chart im a little confused, do you think 12 gauge will be enough to wire my subs to the amp at 1.3 ohms?

If so what is the most watts i can go before i have to upgrade to a bigger gauge?

My question is, whats the big deal? Speaker wire is dirt cheap, just find some 10 gauge and forget about it.

i resolve to be a nicer moderator.

If youre talking about wires from the sub to the amp, 12 gauge is fine. That chart is for power wire from the battery to the amp

the chart says 475 watts for 1 ohm. but one must remember that music is dynamic and changes everything all the time. at one point you may be getting 500 watts @ 7 ohms out of that amp and another you might get 1000 watts @ 3 ohms. point is, it doesnt matter all that much. i still think itll be just fine

My main thing is i do not want to loose any power to my subs so im trying to figure out whats the biggest gauge i should buy, but if 12 gauge will not loose me out on any power then i can buy that.

But if it will, should i go 10 gauge or 8 gauge. I can get 15ft of 8 gauge karma for 30 and 15ft of knukonc speaker wire for 15 so its a difference there. Thanks.
