I decided to post it in the mechman section to maybe get a response from mechman as i emailed them a couple times and havent got a response just tryin to figure out my alt issues

ok i just got a new truck 2001 gmc sierra 6.0 L i took my mechman g series 270 amp alt that was working fine and is maybe 4 months old off my 1999 sierra 5.3 L to swap on the new truck when i start the truck volts high like above 15 and if i rev engine volts drop and raise and bounce around all cab lights and head lights dim also does this while driving also a squeeling sound off and on while driving.i have a brand new tensioner and a shorter gates belt that is nice and tight i have big 3 done in sky high ofc with a 300 amp fuse on alt power wire ,and a xs d3400 as starting battery .i have not installed my extra batts yet witch is 3 more c&d dynastys MR400s i have not changed any thing with the electrical it has stock sterio ,speakers ,ect. any help would be great, my buddy tells me i need an elite series cause the g series wont handle more strain its getting from the 6.0 motor but it says it works on 99-04 6.0s in the description

thanks for all the info im gona be runnin 2 lvl 4 18s below window line on a 3.5k im thinkin im gona go with 2-3 layers on the roof and do some bracing

ok i deadened most of my truck already except for roof how many layers of sky high dampener 120 mil thick will be sufficent i dont want to pull headliner a second time so wana knock this out on the first run

i sold my xl today and ordered 2 lvl 4 18s d1s cant wait till they come

i plan to inverted my subs so i see those beasty magnets can i remove the trim ring and flip it to create a nice flush mounting surface or should i just remove it completely

ok i got a dc 3.5k amp id like to stick with not sure of my sub decision i currently have a new dc xlm2 15 sounds nice on a 3.5k but i want louder im decideing between grabing 1 more xl 15 or 4 lvl3 12s .or 2 lvl 4 18s cant decide. i have room for either as its a 99 gmc sierra ext cab with back seat completly removed and a flat deck built in place of it looking for advice from people who have seen it all
