  1. i would do that but if i do the subs will hit the seat bottoms ok well hopefully either to the side or out the front will make it sound good
  2. would that give the port anything to "load" off of though? i see what you're sayin about facin it to the floor...but if i built the box for the sub and use the right port area and all that it it should sound good porting out the side or forward? i just want it to BUMP but still sound good
  3. nope i'm building it..that's why i asked what my port length should be and what it should be tuned at for everyday playing loudness
  4. ??? c'mon someone's gotta know the answer to this...if there was any info i left out that is needed to figure it out please let me know
  5. ok guys i know i posted a thread like this a while ago but my truck is gonna be stripped in the back for this install very soon. anyways i will be running a TREO SSp 1000w rms woofer. it will be going in a downfire enclosure that i think i'm going to port (don't know if i will run the port to the floor or out the side) but may seal it...not sure yet. my question is if i do decide to port what should i tune the port to? the box will be around 1.25 cubes and i'll be running 1000 watts to it - if i get the 10" the box will be around 1.75 cubes and 1000 watts - if i get the 12" can you give me any ideas for any of this info for either size of sub as i'm still undecided on which one i'll be getting if you need anymore info to help me figure this out just ask
  6. c'mon guys i know there is someone out there that can help me out
  7. sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but for you guys that have built a ported downfire, do they sound sloppy and distorted? i was told that this might be the case. i just want the damn thing to sound good, but THUMP like a mother. any suggestions?
  8. hahha sorry to break up the the little jailbreak section of this thread, but steve what kind of fleece did you use to wrap the doord with and where can it be gotten? online preferably since i don't live in cali :/
  9. as far as slot porting i have no idea...is there a sound/spl difference between a regular or slot port?
  10. what kind of things would smother it? the reason i'm having to downfire is because putting it under my backseat which has just right at 5 inches of space between the floor and the seat bottom...i'm going to have to raise the seat a little so i just decided that downfiring it might be better than having the subs shooting up into the seat bottoms...would you put the port in the same direction as the sub (down) even if there will not be a lot of room between the bottom of the box and the floor?
  11. ok cool..it's not that he's lazy i don't think...i think he just builds a lot more sealed enclosures for trucks and i think he might be afraid to try it and me not like it? idk but i'll definitely talk to him about it. i also asked the guy at TREO if he had heard anything about porting a downfire enclosure...he said something about making the port 4 inches shorter than what the recommended enclosure specs call for? have you heard this before?
  12. ok cool thanks man. so it basically tricks it into thinking its a large box such as the size you'd build for like a ported box? i know the sound won't be the same...
  13. so building a box that will play flatter frenquencies is better for a daily set up but will still bump? sorry i'm just now getting into the whole box building thing lol
  14. ok cool! thanks for the info kris: does the poly fill make an output difference?
