  1. so i soldered the end of one of them with the wires in an open end lug and it came out perfectly round. the only problem i can see is the tip being so hard it won't allow contact completely around the inline fuse holder lug. i'm not sure if its all the trouble but it makes it oh so much easier to remove the wires and install them again and again without twisting the ends.
  2. it's called tinning correct? i was thinking about putting the wires in leave that pocket that the set screw leaves and solder it up for a nice clean fit. i'm going with this method i'll post up pics when i get some taken thanks fellas
  3. i'll be wiring from the fuses here http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q87/jashhh/new%20pics%204/more6005.jpg to the fuses on the front of the motor http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q87/jashhh/new%20pics%204/more6002.jpg it's about 11 feet of travel with 1/0 guage. have you guys tried the soldered tip idea yet or is it a wack idea. i'm not sure if its worth the trouble or not yet. still just an idea
  4. i am wiring up my alternators and running brackets off the frame since i do a lot of mods to my truck i have a feeling i will be unhooking these wires a few times. i think it would be more secure with a soldered end wouldn't it i didn't know it would add resistance this is why i made the tread to see some feedback on this idea. So when i solder the lugs on the end of my wires it is giving me a worse connection than if i just crimped them on?
  5. so i been cutting some 1/0 for my truck and putting the stripped into an inline fuse holder one of the ones that you tighten with an allen wrench key and it crimps down on the wire. well... i been thinking would it be a better idea to solder the tip solid and then allen wrench it down or just do the norm. i don't like the idea of smashing wires to hold them in.
  6. i'll be running a few things off the main battery such as my air compressor and my mids and highs amps as well as a couple tv's. now that you mention it i guess there isn't much of a reason not to link the all together i just like the idea of having a battery for just the truck. wouldn't mixing the 2150s and the 1500 trade power with one another? i know there is a saying to get the same size batteries or they will draw power from one another should i worry about this would it affect my vehicle while it is turned off
  7. so after having researched around a little i finally found a relay for more than 200 amps. the pac 500 off sonic electronics. here is my plan now having listened to all your opinions on batteries i came up with a new idea tell me if it sounds good. i have my two 2150s on my dedicated system and a pc 1500 hooked up for my truck only running its own 300 amp alternator. my idea was to run the relay after the pc1500 to my buss bars allowing my amps to run off of all 3 of my batteries and 3 300 amp alternators. would this help eliminate my need for more batteries and by the way i am pretty sure i won't be playing my system at max for more than a minute or so. thoughts, opinions, ideas. thinking of ways around more batteries lol not lazy more like space saving. thanks fellas

  9. well i have 2 of the odyssey 2150's and built a box for it already so i might be halfway there. my system is dedicated i will actually be running 3 300 amp alts but my third will power just the vehicle and a smaller odyssey battery i have. i'm running out of room for more batteries i have a feeling if i fit any more it would only be one more. this is going in my s10 and am planning on btl 15's. i seen and heard a lot of good things about them i was going to go with ss xxx's but i heard the surrounds aren't all that great and tend to require a recone more often than not
  10. i have two 300 amp alternators and two rf t4000.1bd's how can i calculate how many batteries i need? i plan on running them both at 1 ohm. for example the odyessy pc2150's
