  1. Why only 350-400RMS? I have a 12" Type R (the newer 600Watt version), giving mine 700Watts RMS in a sealed enclosure at 1.25 cubes, and it's a pretty nice set up.
  2. Surely having it inverted would make it handle the lows SLIGHTLY better because the basket/magnet wont be taking up any room in the box, making the volume of the box slightly larger when the woofer is inverted, and smaller when the woofer is mounted as normal with the basket/magnet in the box? I'm not sure what the driver displacement of a type R is so I don't know exactly how much room the box will gain when inverted, I know its a bit smaller than the older type R models.
  3. I'm not looking for the DB at the moment, just how it sounds, I guess I'll just try both ways and see what I prefer, just out of interest what would happen if I didn't reverse the polarity with an inverted sub?
  4. I have an alpine Type R (600W version, running at 700W) in a selaed enclosure at 1.25 cubic foot, and i have a box that is ported and tuned to around 35Hz and is 1.6 cubes after port displacement, which doesn't leave much room for the type R, but if I were to invert mount it would that make any noticeable difference by eliminating the woofer displacement? and if I did invert it would I have to reverse the polarity?
  5. Ah right, I wasn't going to follow the cut sheet anyway as the specs it gave were different to the ones the box was already made with, I just wonderd why it did that, 1.5 is a tad small, but I supose I could invert mount the sub which eliminates the driver displacement, would that make a noticeable difference?
  6. it was a box for two 12", and I took the front off as there were two 12" holes as I now only have one sub, so would I be better of puting a new front on it and having it a sealed enclosure at 2 cubic feet? I'm not sure if that's a bit too large for a type R? According to the specs the maximum size for a sealed is 1.25 cubes, which is way under this box's size, but I suppose they aren't always the limitations? I just don't want to damange the woofer by sticking it in a sealed 2 cubic foot enclosure or a poor ported enclosure. When I try to extend the length of the port the cut sheet list just displays N/A which means I'm obviously doing something wrong, but it says there are port bends. I don't suppose anyone will be able to give me some dimensions of a slot port that will work with this box and have it tuned to around 35Hz? as it has become obvious I have absoloutely no idea what I'm doing lol.
  7. Right, so where it says it's tuned to 34.6 Hz it actually won't be tuned to that? I know the RE calculator isn't exactly accurate but I'm getting similar results (32Hz) with the same dimensions, does the port need to be wider and longer in an L shape? or am I completey missing something here?
  8. oh wait thats 14" for the pvc pipes, my bad lol. ideally it needs to be a slot port as I can't really get hold of any PVC at the moment, I don't really know how to use that program but from what I can see I haven't done anything wrong
  9. So i need add a 2 1/4" extra piece of wood at the end of the port to create an L at 14"? how did you get the value of 14" for the port? This program confuses the hell out of me
  10. Ok so I'm completely new to ported enclosures but I thought I'd give it a go and see what I come up with, I already have the box (hacking up an old sealed enclosure which is about 2 cubic feet) and due to a lack of wood/funds the box dimensions CAN NOT change, only the port dimensions can change. According to my calculations on Torres' box calculator my enclosure should be tuned to around 34/35Hz, but the port looks a little small to me, but then again I have no idea if it's right or wrong, can someone please check it over and advise me what to do if it's not correct, cheers. I'm going to be putting an alpine Type R in it running at about 700 Watts, this box will only be temporary until I get my new gear.
  11. I don't have an amp yet and as for the pricing they cost pretty much the same in the UK, I just want it to be loud, sound good and look good and about the xmax, I read the Havoc has more than then level 4, like 30mm on the AA and 27 on the DC or something, would that make the havoc louder if I were to give them the same power each?
  12. The longer I wait to start my new build the more I change my mind DC Audio Level 4 15" or Ascendant Audio Havoc 15"? Both pretty much meet what I'm looking for, I just don't know which to go for, is there any major diferences?
  13. no, they only make 10s for the assassin, arsenal and chaos, the smallest size the havocs and mayhems come in are 12", i think, not 100% sure.

    JBL or SPL?

the team spb build is the reason I'm interested in this amp! I think it's a pretty simple choice which amp I go for, more power same price, and looks pretty damn good!
