  1. Over the course of the next 6 months, Im going to be doing a build with Mike Heinicke. We are walling off my 1995 Cadillac Eldorado. Putting in a 4th order box with 2 18" subs with 4HP motors. We are installing a Pioneer FH-P8000BT. Putting in 4 Deka batteries to power 2 Audiopipe 3500's, and installing a new alternator. Nothing has been purchased yet, so if you have any suggestions on what to or not to buy please post them. Hope you enjoy the build.
  2. I like that Pioneer one a lot. I just dont wanna spend $1000 on a headunit. My limit all together is around $2500. Im already spending $800 on the sub and amps, I want a really good alarm system that is $400. I need an extra battery and all the wiring. I need door speakers and 6x9's, plus a new headunit all for under $3000.I guess Ill just have to save up a few extra paychecks and spend $3000. But at least everything will be perfect and I wont have to buy another system for a while
  3. I also want to buy a new Headunit. I for sure want a touchscreen. I just dont know what brand to get, My price range for a HU is about $400-$600.
  4. Ok, thanks for the info guys, as for the interior speakers go, I looked at the fosgate and I like what I see. All together Im gonna need 2 5.25s for the doors and 2 6x9s for the back. Im also gonna need an amp for them. And I was wondering what anyone knows about American Bass amps because Im gonna get 2 of them to power the sub.
  5. I scratched the idea of getting a DC sub. I was offered a 12 inch Shocker Sig sub for $400 with box tuned to 38hz. I dont know much about the sub. He told me it is 18,000RMS and there are only 36 of them made. I heard it and it sounds extremely loud. He is at 147db's in a 99 Chrysler 300m. I just would like to know more about it. Im probably gonna buy it within the next few weeks. I kinda want some advice on amps to. I think Im gonna get 2 American Bass 2500d amps for $200 a piece. The sub is wired to have 1 amp per voice coil. And I also want to upgrade my headunit to a touchscreen. I want to get all new door speakers and 6 by 9's but I dont know any good brands. My budget is around $2500. Any suggestions on what brands to buy. I have a 1995 Cadillac Eldorado.
  6. I really dont even know what clipping is. Im also not to sure how to tune an amp. The guy im buying the stuff from said he will tune it all for me and make sure I wont blow the sub. Honestly, it's up to you on whether or not you take his deal. It is a great offer and DC makes great subwoofers. But if your willing to spend that much money, you NEED to make sure you are not sending a clipped signal to the sub. Does the guy your buying from have an oscope? If he doesn't, does he even know what one is? I'm interested into how he's going to tune it. im not sure if he has an o scope, but I know hes done a lot of builds and probably has one. Im going to talk to him tomorrow about it. In case he doesnt I did just watch the video and know what it is now. Just in case he doesnt have one what do you think one would cost to buy one and tune it myself.

  8. Ok Im not so much new to car audio, I know the basics but not the technical stuff. I have what I believe to be a pretty bad ass amp. Its a Hifonics HFI2000d. I recently blew the Alpine Type R 12's I had hooked up to it. Im looking in to getting new subs and my budget is $600. At this dealer down the road the guy offered me 1 DC level 4 XL 15' in a 4th order box with a battery and all new 0 gauge with install. I was wondering if this was a pretty good sub to invest in to and not have to worry about replacing it sometime soon. It says it can handle 1500 to 3000 RMS and my amp puts out 2000. I was just wondering if there were better subs for the money. He said the sub is going to run me at $400 and the box is $100 and then everything else for $100. Also during the summer when I make a little money I want to get new interior speakers for my doors and replace the 6x9's I have. All my interior speakers are Sony Xplodes and they are ok but the Type R's seemed to drown out the lyrics and I want something that will over power the sub. I was also wondering if the headunit I have is decent at all. I bought a JVC KW-XR610. I love the way it looks and it fit in my dash without any mounting kits. Please help ease my mind. Sorry its so long.
