  1. So what is a good amp for a pair of xfl 1244s? Will be running subs in 1 ohm load.

Something in the 4-5k range if you have the electrical for it.

You might be able to run a bit more if you are careful

I wouldn't go as far as 5k, a true 3.5-4k amp seems to be a perfect match for a pair of XFL's.

  2. So if you where in my situation and can only afford one format to do which one would you do? Bass race bass boxing or park and pound meca?

if you're confident that you're louder than everyone else in your class then bassboxing if not then i'd do bassrace since it doesn't matter how loud you are, just who has better control of the volume knob ;)

That is true also what do you think of that meca park and pound where they go buy fusing? Or is that similar to bass boxing just with a fuse.

  3. Going for my Master's in Information Technology with web development and java.
  4. What is a good amp to throw on to a pair of brutus 12d4 subwoofers. They are 600 rms each.

I ended up going with a mb quart 2000.1D. Perfect match for subs and amp and for 139.9 class which is where I wanted to be in the first place and a crunch 900.4 for highs for now until I can upgrade to a mb quart highs amp. Very impressed with the amp for the money. Plays nicely on the subs.

  5. Im running a mb quart 1600.1D @ 1 ohm and am having no issues with it so far. For the money I was surprised how punchy this amp really is.
  6. Well according to the termlab meter my ford Taurus likes 43 hertz. It was loudest with subwoofers and ports firing backwards towards the tail lights. Term lab rocks.

  7. Learned how to do Iasca bass boxing and IDBL this past weekend and was a lot of fun. Next will be a few meca shows.

  8. Now the quest is on to find a good 2 to 3000 watt amp and hope for the best. I have no preference on name brand.

  9. Here is one other question? Im running street a from my trunk car and thinking of doing 1 15 ported vs 2 12s sealed? Would the one 15 be louder then the 2 12s sealed? Id be getting a dual2ohm 15

try both, then you can tell us the answer.

My subs were louder with subs backward and not much a gain or loss in my trunk between the two subs on same headunit volume and same burp. My car subs are loudest firing backwards towards taillights. Termlabs my new friend for audio lol.

  10. What does maxx wattage mean on a amp and should I stay away from a amp that says maxx watts? I seen a few that say 4000maxx wattage. Just wondering what that meant?

    1. yUmadBro

      yUmadBro

You want to look for true RMS watt ratings when looking into an amplifier. Usually a 4000 watt max amp will only truly do 2000 rms watts

    2. SnowDrifter

      SnowDrifter

It means bigger numbers so they sell better. But have no bearing on the actual output power of the amp

That's nice so you can buy it then hook it up and maybe get 1000watts from it. I have come to realize any amp over 1500 watts is a gamble on the power you get from it and it all comes down to your electrical system as well. I run 12.5 volts daily. I guess it comes down to buying a termlab meter and just testing and tuning. Next purchase is termlab meter. Anyone got any good tips on some good 2 to 3000 watt amps that run good on music and that are affordable like say 300.00 or under i...

  11. Well I did a test run with my sealed box in my trunk and held a 129.9 using the song juice box. I put the subs in ported then and noticed I didn't need to turn volume up as high on head unit to get to 129.9 as I did on sealed box. Either way still got my 129.9 for bass race. Now working on my park and pound.

  12. Trying to find the best set up for my trunk for car audio. I like doing all the formats but with kids im only limited to what I can put in my trunk. I was wondering what ideas you all might have to get the most out of my daily sedan 2004 Ford Taurus.

Got the 2 12s just need to find someone who can help me seal them off from the trunk since im not the greatest at box building. Anyone know of any good shops in ohio that do affordable custom work? I live 5 minutes from Cleveland, Ohio.

      Thanks for the info.
