Good sounding systems are mostly about the boxes. Custom will beat pre-fab any day, when built properly. If you're really serious about sounding good, you'll shell out the extra money for a custom box.

Best buy has those boxes that you just glue together/screw together...already pre-made wood with the cut pieces. Like meijers and walmart crap. So basically prefab without the fab?

You said you went to Best Buy, but put one together yourself? I'm confused. Did you make a custom box or buy one?
