  1. Get 2 SA's D4 and get an amp that makes power at 1 ohm. Don't build the box so that it takes up all the space in your trunk, especially if you're firing towards the rear. The most efficient thing in my opinion would be 2 SA 12s off any good amp that does between 1.2k-2k.
  2. The FS on those things is retarded low. If he wanted to tune at 27-28 there'd be no problem. I agree on the tuning to low 20s. There's no reason to do that unless you listen to chopped and screwed music 100% of the time. Or if you like listening to 20hz test tones.
  3. I think it's more of a box problem than your woofers not breaking in. 4.7^3 is small for those woofers.
  4. Tenney. Some dude made a thread about it and sent his alt in to mechman to get rebuilt. It ended up doing way less than rated output.
  5. ^ The decibal system isent linear.. as in all things equal in the above setup with only one woofer it would be in the 130's. General rule of thumb for all that is double the wattage +3db (small but noticeable), double the surface area +10db (double perceived volume) You can't just look at what equipment someone has and make a generalization about how loud it is. The install is usually more important than the equipment itself. And double the surface area is +3db if you don't run into phasing issues or loading problems.
  6. This is why I won't support this company. Too much shady info on the interwebz about Skar.
  7. I spoke with them, and there was a communication error. That price was for a 1' mdf box ready for tons of power. A single 12 wrapped is going to be at least $100 less.
  8. I had 2 Sundown Z v.3s several months ago. I gained 1.5 in a week from fully breaking them in. However when I first metered them they were already used for several weeks but on much lower power levels. There's a chance I would have gained more had I metered em as soon as I got em.
  9. I'd throw away the idea of having the subs in the back seat asap. If they won't fit then redesign your box. Your seats can easily get torn up and they'll be MUCH easier to steal. It should be louder that way, but it won't sound anywhere near as good. Plus your speakers definitely won't keep up if that box is 3 feet behind you. It'll cancel out everything coming from the back, and give your front stage a harder time keeping up.
  10. Strong words......any reason you put them ahead of every other shop?? I've been almost everywhere in Houston, Cypress, basically almost every shop that was in a 30 mile radius of me. As far as price to quality of work they're the best in my experience. Derrick and Allen have been around forever and both know what they're talking about bar none. They have several state records and I believe 1 world record as well. I haven't been able to take any pics of their work because my car isn't finished yet, but when it is they will be plenty. They also have insanely good customer service. Brand wise they carry basic stuff such as Kicker and Planet Audio, but they're the only DC Audio dealers in Texas. They also have Atomic and several other badass brands as well. Now if you wanted some serious custom work done where price wasn't an option then I'd recommend Innovative Rides. Aaron Davis owns them, and his work is phenomenal. Only downfall is his price which is quite steep. The majority of his work is SQ stuff, nothing very big over 1-2k watts. Where as Wobbly Woofers is used to doing builds that are well into the 5-8K range. So yeah if you want sexy, loud and a great price go to Wobbly. If you want insane custom work that's geared more towards the SQ area but is still loud without a budget then Innovative Rides. FYI both these places have tons of experience and know what they're talking about. They won't say anything that'll make you second guess their work.
  11. Punch him twice, then ask him how many people he's scammed.
  12. 1000 if you know what you're doing.
  13. ^ what he said. I'd take my car there before any other place in Houston 1000/1000 times. Matter of fact it's being worked on right now lol.
  14. There is no replacement for displacement.
  15. It helps TREMENDOUSLY if you remove the plastic cover in the trunk that covers up the rear speakers. If you do this then 15' height won't be a problem at all. 33' wide is really pushing it, 32' wide is very snug and takes a bit of pressure to fit in. Length is all up to you. If you want to, you can make the box 32' wide and have it come up around the humps on the side of the trunk. You could extend it to 40' without a problem. In this case you most likely would want to seal everything off and fire forward. This is an idea of the box I'm talking about minus the fact that it's much bigger than you'll need it to be. Anywho, what amp are you going to be using?
