New tank

I love the variety you can get with salt water vs fresh water, but I just can't afford it right now. I've alot of vet bills lately and also trying to save up for a house to get uot of this black hole of an apartment... little at a time as they say. I too would love to see pictures of the 150 gallon salt water tnak though. I bet it is awesome! -
New tank

I can't use my tap. It makes my fish sickly and always up at the top for air. I even tried with a filter on the faucet and the tap conditioner stuff. Still the same result. Thanks for the tip on the filter. I'll keep an eye on it. For now it is will be ok, but we'll see how long before the water starts to look murky. -
Here is a side project that I have been working on at home... I got a deal at Petco that I just couldn't pass up. I got a 29 gallon tank, lid, filter, and heater all for around 100$. All I needed to buy was the gravel, decorations, and the water pump for cleaning it. I also needed to do some construction work since I wanted to put it inside of my old entertainment center, but the shelf only holds 60lbs. Here you can see the braces I added: (I will be staining the wood to match the unit) And here is the water for it. You should've seen the looks I got at the cash register with all of this stuff The fish tank fits perfectly! Now it's time to add the water: And here it is with the filter running and the hood light on: I will be going out to buy some fish for it later on this weekend. I already have two bottom feeders from an older tank and I am going to get at least 1 sucker fish. Beyond that, it's all up in the air

I'm guessing the ozone generator was some kind of high speed oscillator for a flyback or it could be another type of HV generator. Either way, it was just a BFA (big fat arc), right? -

OK, I have since tuned in the circuit and decreased the windings in the primary coil of the flyback transformer and thus increased the voltage output of the secondary. The arc is nice and quiet and gets pretty large. However, my coil doesn't seem to be capable of handling the extra voltage as it has shorted internally and cannot barely create a decent arc anymore. Next step: build one from scratch. This ought to be fun -

OK, got the box together, and tested it out at work today. No sound source was connected and the circuit wasn't tuned yet, hence the buzzing. Once I get the pot adjusted correctly, that noise should go away, and then I can test it with the proper amount of power and windings. This will make the ark bigger, and consequently more dangerous (probably won't be holding the wire with my hand then ) Plasma Speaker Test 1 -

And yes, I know it's messy, but it is only a prototype after all -

OK, so I have gotten the circuit mostly wired up now. I just need to slap it in the box that I have for it and connect up the flyback transformer, power, and music source and we will be ready for some testing. I should have some results tonight or tomorrow so stay tuned! -

ah crap, wish I would have seen this about 2 months ago before I already changed my ignition system to a push button start and am installing an RFID system for the accessories.... -

Sorry for the long wait on this guys. I am expecting the last shipment of parts tonight and will begin construction of this thing ASAP. I can't wait! -

Yes, the sound just comes from the arc itself affecting the air around it. So far I have yet to find a design that will get a decent amount of volume to it though, so I'm not sure how it will do for tower speakers. I'll let you know how mine comes out. -

That's pretty nice. Probably much nicer than what mine will look like for the first time, lol. We'll see though -

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't die if you just stuck your finger in it, but you wouldn't have a finger left, that's for sure. Now if you touched one contact with one hand and the other with your other hand, then it would go through your chest and you'd be cooked for sure... As far as progress, I have stuff on order from Digikey. Once I'm done collecting all of the piece parts I am going to start throwing it all together. I'll be sure to keep you all posted.
