  7. So here is a suggestion, power: to sub(s) rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 3 3/4", figure is just an assembly guide: NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside. NOTE: Since your seats fold down you can fire forward and seal off or you could do the more common firing subs back. NOTE: Wood thickness is one inch for this design.

  9. Question. I have an amp (DB ASA 4000.1) that does 4000 RMS, and 2 kicker solo x 15” subs wired down to 1 ohm to the amp. Gain set to right before distortion with 40hz -10db test tone and Crossovers set to 25hz of my 30hz tuned box, 80hz for LPF. Using the SMD DD-1 & CC-1. Have 350 amp HO alternator with a 2nd battery XS power 3100 with a 630F ultra cap bank. Im getting a soft clip at louder volumes 34/35 of 38. With Bass Knob turned half to 3/4 way up. I get soft clipping at dynamic kicks with like a flash of red clip light, and if i turn the volume or bass up more it will be more of a hard clip with a solid red clip light. Doesn’t clip with the more boomy bass, like 30-50hz . What’s the Best way to midigate to no clip without turning down gain and leaving power on the table. thanks
  10. Hey, so I'm thinking about installing a Sundown Salt-6 on my car and sorely need to upgrade my batteries before I do. I currently have a yellow top optima battery up front and 2 small 600w batteries(https://stingersolutions.com/products/600watt-secondary-battery) in the trunk trying to keep up with an Apocalypse AAB-4900.1D and it already isn't enough. Considering this will be a huge upgrade and from what I've seen the Sundown amp can do around 6900w at 1ohm before distortion, I NEED to upgrade before I put this amp in the car. Now here is where I need help, I am by no means a professional and am seriously out of my depth but I'm passionate about my little projects and would rather ask for help than to let my ideas die. Now I've done some research and some back and forth with gpt and decided I'd take my chances here. My vague understanding of what I need from the battery and what gpt(AI) told me landed me at this set of cells(https://www.expertpower.us/products/3-2v-230ah-lifepo4-cells), they build a pack of 12.8v with a maximum of 14.6v, I have installed a high output alternator which charges my current batteries at 14.3v. The cells have a maximum of 690a discharge current, which if what gpt(AI) said is correct should accommodate the maximum theoretical draw that the amp would need at peaks. That is about where my understanding ends, and so I would love to hear what y'all have to say and maybe get some guidance or maybe I need to know some crucial information that I don't know yet. Thankfully I’m not entirely doing this alone, as I have people who are experienced with installing this kind of stuff who are willing to help me, I just need to know what path to start on. I look forward to any replies!
  11. Yeah, I might do that. So people can get an idea. I could have bought different stuff I like being different. Having different things than other people usually. I just decided I guess the skar stuff seemed reasonable first I got the subs then I tried the amp skar doesn't seem too bad for the money. One audio shop sells sundown stuff and I'm sure they would have liked to have sold me some of that but it was going to be expensive. I asked about a box and they pretty much said they could build me one if I wanted but it would take months they were backed up with work and who knows what it would have cost, but they didn't seem to have anything that would have been 32 Hertz or lower. Probably the standard 39 to 40 Hertz prefab boxes typical I believe that's what they said so I didn't want to end up getting the same thing as before would have been no benefit or gain.
  12. Hey guys, new to the forum (will be making an account after this post don't worry). I have a basic b***h setup with 2 "off brand" subs, QPower 12" 1700 max 450 RMS 4 ohm DVC and a Skar SKv2-1500.1d amp. It's only going in a 99 Mustang GT so not much room to work with anyways. I have a stupidly weird issue that I'm probably overlooking, all wiring checks out fine and subs are ohm'd to 2 ohms each (not wired together). RCAs have voltage, amp is being powered with no protection light on. It'll randomly play through the subs, nothing is making it work (like hitting a bump in the road). I cannot for the life of me figure it out. and yes the master/slave switch is set to master and RCAs are in the input. It'll play really well, I'll even leave my car sitting overnight and it'll work the next morning, then I'll go to leave later that same day and it won't be playing anything. It is very infuriating, any help would be nice. Thanks!!

  14. Newbie here. I apologize in advance for my ignorance. I have old classic truck. I sound deadened the bare metal floorpan. Do you guys run your sound system wiring (speaker wire, signal wire) laying directly on top of the sound deadener and then place the carpet padding? Or place the wires on top of the carpet padding directly under the carpet? Appreciate your advice.
  15. Can one of you guys help me out with a box design.I have 2 Sundown 10" XV2 2ohm . I was going to buy a glue and screw kit but nobody makes one big enough. I need a 3.2 cubes after displacement@32 hertz. Biggest I can find is right at 3.0 but I would have to Invert which won't fit in my trunk. I paid someone I found on fb to design me one but he took my $10 and ghosted me... Sundown recommends 24in of port area. 36" would be max length, depth really don't matter..Height at 14 or 15 .Going to be powered by a Skar RP3500 in a 22 Malibu
  16. Hey yall! So, obviously this is my first time posting in here and I am pretty new to this forum... So if my posting format is incorrect please correct me! So, my friend has a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. He has 4 12" Powerbass Subwoofers, currently in 2 separate enclosures. He is wanting to merge all 4 into 1 box to fit in the trunk space of the truck.. I am not 100% on the max dimensions right this moment but I will update this post tomorrow with the trunk space dimensions. We were trying to find someone to build the enclosure for us but that's proven unsuccessful locally... So, I am looking to get some help with this! He doesn't really have any specific build requests other than making sure all 4 subs are in 1 box... I've never built a box from scratch and am looking forward to any input or suggestions I can get! Like, what kind of building materials to use, dimensions, air space recommendations, etc. A step-by-step would be fire! P.s. He is coming by in the morning to let me get specifics and I will update the OP then. Thanks in advance for your responses!
  17. I keep seeing mix post on adjusting gain with the subwoofer connected or disconnected. Figured I would post to see if anyone has proof or knows for sure which way to tune it. It's just with these smart amps idk if it changes anything that would maybe keep me from getting full 5k. Thought?
  18. You need a port diameter clearance to the back wall for those ports, I would just do a slot port 30 square inches of port area instead of 3D printing some bent ports but whatever. To get the airspeed enter the power but DO NOT press enter, instead click on the plot and it will be updated. Since this software is no longer being updated that bug will stay there forever.
  19. I dont think I can fit 2 x 4 inch ports because of the length. The trunk is an weird space and i need to have the ports and the sub in the front of the box along with the sub. Maybe a 90 degree pipe bend would work in the sub? But I dont know if that is how it works with sub boxs. Im pretty sure if I increase the length of the box (front to back) it will help it but then I have to shrink the width of it and if i do that then the ports will not fit in the front. I have room to work with with the length of the box (front to back) but the measurements for height and width are max but i could shrink them if needed. I will be 3d printing the ports so a bend is available, i just dont know if it is efficiant/will work for sub boxes. I tried calculating my air velocity of bbp6 but for some reason it crashes when i input W for the air velocity so i cant get a graph of it. Here are screen shots of it, lmk if you have an idea in what i should do.
  20. In a 2.2 net @35 Hz, two 4" round ports ported box (estimated size from your measurements) I get 30.1 m/s @1500W RMS using bassbox pro, for round ports up to about 35 m/s is reasonable, if it was a slot port about 25 m/s is about what you would have. Take care on how you enter numbers and other calculations.
  21. Yea but then isn’t the air velocity too much? I tried that on winisd and it said 55m/s at 35 hz

  24. For a 12 of that power you need like two 4" ports, usually mounted on the side of the box so that they fit without turning and do not use the baffle. To me is better going slot port with about 30 square inches of port area.
  25. I need help with the aero port with the box im designing. Box specs 19 W 20 L 15 H Fb 34.57 Hz Now i am wondering if the aeroport im using is good for it. Im thinking 2 x 3.25" ports 16" long. Is that good for the sub? its a american bass XFL-1222 which im gonna be pushing 1500 Rms (3000 max). I want the ports to be on the front face beside the sub. Let me know if this seems good?
