  4. Since the box volume changed a little bit and i didn't have the room i thought i would for the 4" ports, i ended up using 3" ports. There will now be 2 3" ports in the center chamber. I wanted to do 3, 3" ports but the volume changed a little and the numbers just didn't look right to me. I guess ill find out! It's just 2 P2 10's they shouldn't have any port noise but i will also do a FAT round over on them once i am ready to do so. Time to start thinking about fiberglassing. Blue tape, spray glue, and some plastic....and i am ready to glass. Cutting a few port holes. Like i said above, once i am at that point, i will throw a nice round-over on these. I went with traditional tube ports because i need every bit of space i can get in this box. No real room to do Aero-ports. Plus, their location and where they are aiming played a big role in my choice to use them. Tubes work great so no problem! Looking from this angle it starts to become apparent that this is a complicated box to build. Being a 6th order bandpass is already a pain in the ass but this crazy shaped bed is really challenging. I decided to use the bed wall as the actual enclosure wall. No sense in using a bunch of wood scraps...plus, as i said, i need all the space i can get. SMD Sunflash FTW.. Take my sweet time, no rush at all. When i am ready, back it out to the sun and it locks up in about a minute or so...usually well under a minute. In case you are wondering, this is the color of it. No catalyst. No mixing. Right out of the container into your cup onto your project. Easy.

  5. What it's like to be on the Hill. It's way legit. There's a ride or a seat for everyone when we smash out to the hills. The Drophead Rolls and Ferrari just hanging out. Dirty, like my car...chea! A bunch of sick ass Harley's and Indian's Honored to see this on his wall when i visit. Sick ass picture of the Hoopty. After a long night - time to off load and get a shower and some sleep! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Fast forward to Tuesday: Ok here we go with the box. The plan is a 3 chamber, 6th order bandpass. 3, 3" Ports in the center chamber (subject to change after i determine exact final box volume) and a single 4" port in each of the side chambers. It has a nice response curve, i hope it sounds as good as it looks on paper. Ill share more details on the box once i know it sounds right. I plan on porting UNDER the railing and right behind each seat on the 4" ports and in between the seats on the 3" ports. Im doing all i can to get bass in an open air environment while protecting the subs (with the BP design). I need every single square inch of volume i can get so i am not using aeroports. I am using ABS tubes with a nice clean round over on the outside. **NOTE: Due to the crazy shapes this bed is made of, some of my work looks rough. I had to make some changes along the way and a LOT of this is freestyle off the top of my head (with the exception of box volume). I am planning on making the top part a usable bed to hold items. I plan on glassing it to where it comes down the sides at an angle and looks natural. I will still be able to use my tie downs too! Also, this box will be EASILY removable for access to the hatch below (for engine work). When it's done it will be a combo of bed liner for durability and whatever else i come up with to make it look good. Now for the pics. I ended up cutting these a lot shorter then this.

  6. Bedlined them up and started working on the grill. Send the ring next door to my friend Jay to shoot it orange. Ok, i was all excited about the Rockford T3's that i was supposed to get today...well they aren't coming till monday FTL. BUT, i had a spare set of T5's i was saving for something else. Now they are going in here, at least for the weekend. They sound so amazing, they might be staying I just don't like that dust and dirt can get in the coil. The T3 is a closed cone unlike this one that rides on the phase plug and has an exposed gap. So they will be ok for the weekend but monday i gotta take them out. No sweat though the T3's are also amazing speakers! Since it is so hard to get solid bass in an open air environment, i am going to use these to enhance the bass response for the driver and passenger. I have had these for years and was waiting on the right time to use them. They are pretty fucking awesome! Now when you see wires, don't give them a thought, i am going to clean those up. This was a last minute thing. They will be cleaned up during the box build starting next week. JUST mids and highs along with these feels like a complete system from the seat. It gives it a great sense of authority! Here is the rings...no grill mesh yet. I wish this wasn't an ATV i would leave it like this Grills in.
