Hey man! going back to our ho alternator conversation. mechman is the go to but the js alternator offer a 320 Amp compare to the 240 from machaname offers for my car. i want to get the higher rated amp. js alt any good?

Yesir! All that matters :) thanks for your inputs. helps me figure things out!.

I agree the sia are better compared to the sfbs but ill probably stick with the sfb cause of the price and i don't be abusing my equipment so even with the sfb line of amps i should be fine with performance. i barley go half way volume on my head unit its plenty loud for me even with just 1kw amp.But ill probably just go with sfb2000  to give it its rated power and not over.

      UPDATE*

using the sfb1000 on the skar. no issue. no voltage drop.

im not sure why the hifonics amp did what it did. i dont even wannqa go back and test the amp again with the volt mete to see any drop . im happy with how it is now. it bumps harder than it did with the 2200 watt hifonics amp. ill upgrade to the sfb3000 in the future along with the ho alt and bat.

I dont want to mess with the wiring on the mtx enclosure to wire it to 4ohm. I just got the sundown sfb 1000d which still under power the 2 skars i have by half rated 1000rms each. comparing that to my current set up now 500rms amp powering 2 500rms mtx subs.. underpowering the subs by half its rated is banging enough for me. the evls should still tear it up like before when i had them hook up on the 2200 hifonics amp. and i doubt i was pulling 2200 with my stock electricals probably just half if not less. the sfb should be just fine since its not as power hungry as the 2200 amp. im about to get install the sfb amp to power the mtx for tonihgt. ill switch the skars tomrrow. just want to hear my mtx finaly get tis rateed rms power. well at 20hm the sfb is rated at 850 watts but in youtube dyno tests it actually push out just over 1krms. and at 1ohm it pushed over 1600rms which i still doubt ill be able to pull with my stock electricals but hoping it doesn't not reduce its power again like the hifonics did.

i got it the first time just making sure that you meant its possible to run 4ohm on a 2 ohm amp. i didn't know that about 2ohm amps, thanks. if i did wire them to 4 ohms my 2ohm amp is only rated 500rms, 4ohm load would only give subs over 100watts each while subs rated 1000rms. ten percent of rated powering gonna go in the subs.. it'll play but not sure how that would sound if it bumps enough for my liking ill keep it that way.  im just trying to make the most of my stock electrical right now before committing to get the alt n bat but its definite. I saw a smd video about the audio control 300 watt mono amp. powering 2 24 in subs rated 2000rms each and its bumping pretty loud. that makes me wonder if underpowering my skars with a 500 or 1000 watts rms amp while keeping stock electricals. your thoughts?

You're right. as I find more discussions about using one vc it said the same things you just mentioned and will not go that route. as for wiring the subs to 4ohm.. a 2 ohm stable amp can be paired with it? im not sure if that's what you're implying?.

how many ah is average? i see some under 100ah i see some over 1000ah. im not looking to gain any power by using only one coil.  i said in the meantime till i upgrade my electrical i want to be able to play my new subs using my 2 ohm amp. i was hoping for a yes or no answer. Lets say you have no other option.. u only have a 2 ohm amp and the 2 d4 subs in same enclosure. using one coil will function and play fine? ive see wiring diagram showing only one coil being use to make 2 ohm out of 2 d4 subs

i was thinking the same they all in same price range. the one from js alternator is 300Amp for just under 400 compare to the mechman 240Amp . is a 240Amp alt enough for my set up of 2200 watt amp and 2000 rms 4000 peak woofers or 300amp?

I ran the 2200 amp by itself it still did the same. the output is reduced by 80-90% but still plays. amp does not go protect mode. now I'm running my 500 watt amp and mtx subs no issue. which alt should i go with?

Thanks for your opinion. i heard these hifonics amps are power hungry, having a 100A alt might not be enough for a 2200w amp even when using it at half its power 1100rms at 2ohm along with the 4ch amp. the 500rms amp that came with the mtx subs work perfectly fine running along with the 4 channel. im thinking of getting rid of the 4channel for now and just run the mono by itself and see if the issue happens again. having less equipment does lessen the drop. will have to upgrade power supply if this continues.

I see. just wondering because i did have a few days of playing time till it the issue happen. during that period it was playing fine and was getting enough power i think since it was playin right? subsonic all the way up at 35hz lpf 80-100 and bass boost/eq off. my mtx subs are svc 4ohm wired to 2 ohms. and the skar 4ohm dvc wired to 1ohm. but i have not actually check if subs are wired correctly I just assume they are. the original amp and replacement amp act this way with both subs.

Got it. What other ways this could happen other than my electrical not being enough? So an amp can reduced its output automatically when it detects not having enough power to the desire listening volume? If I’m gonna upgraded some power supply ima go with an atl then battery. Sucks I can’t even fully enjoy my new sub rn.

Update* I finished the set up 5 weeks ago. But I’m having issue with my sub amp having a significant reduced  output. It’s on and play music but it’s sound like you turned the Gain down. It played like 10% of outputs compare to how normally it would play.I been did the big3 using 0gauge ofc wire as for my power wires.  Hifonics representative states that I may not be powering the amps enough power since I have all stock electricals . I got a replacement from Hifonics over a week ago and I also got new pair of skar evl 10’ with custom box. And it did it again. I thought my stock electrical would still be enough even tho I’m just using my set up at barley half volume. And it did with with my mtx subs 1000rms before I got a replacement and new subs rated 2000rms. So is my electrical the problem? Even with my mtx that half that power of the amp being used it still reduced the output. Even one time it completely went out no music. After taking out the amp I tried using it to test out my skar and it works fine but after just a couples days it did it again. No protect mode it just reduce outputs. Thoughts??

The bg2200d says 2awg on the specs online but on the actual paper manual that came in the box it shows says to use 0awg and i've verified that already test fitting a 0awg wire the terminals are up to size.. i also emailed maxxsonics about it they said 2awg is fine but i'm thinking of actually just going 0, go for it or stay 2awg? & the 4ch amp takes the 4awg wire and actually it came with 70A fuse not like the pictures online showing 60A. they need to update nad be more please about their specs lol. I am using silver tinned ofc wires by conext link for my application.

I appreciate you telling me the hows rather than giving me a straight answer. You have been pretty clear for the most parts. I have a good grasp of how things work in car audio (i've watched videos from car fabrication on YouTube) about fuses and anything else car audio.. it's just this particular scenario of mine where i'll be using the amps at different ohm loads than the original rating of the amp. Another car audio guy on youtube told me it's fine to use a fuse rated at the ohm rating of whichever ohm i'll be using the amp at. for ex 2000 would be 200A or 1000 100A like my case here which i'll be using a 120 amp at the fused distribution block since at 2ohm the amp puts out 1100rms . I wanted your opinion about the fusing of different ohms i plan on using the amp at.

I hear ya but I'm still mixed up with your answers sorry. Since I'm using the mono at 2ohm what fuse should i use for it on the dblock? stay 120A or go with 200?

& you're saying 250 is fine for the inline fuse correct?

let's say i go with 200A fuse for the mono. now do i have to change the inline to 300/350?

I went ahead and fused the sub amp w 120A fuse on the distribution block since I'm only going to run the subs at its 2ohm load at 1100rms & the 4ch amp with 100A fuse on the dblock. Using 2 gauge and 4 gauge ofc wires to power the amps and 0 gauge fused with 250A from the battery to the dblock. Thoughts? Or should I still fuze the sub amp with a 200A fuse for its 1ohm 2200 rating even I'm only using it at 2ohm? Then upgrade the inline fuse to 300A once i get the suggestion from you on either should i go stick with the 120A or go with 200A. Just got all my parts today, i'll be installing everything over the weekend.

make that two things. i also have the hifonics bg1000.4. im sure 4 gauge is enough for it. it does come with a 70amp fuse.  i know 1000 watts = 100amp fuse is . should i go with the 100amp fuze to put on the fused-distribution block or match the built in 70amp fuse and go with either 60 or 80amp fuze?
