You can repair the sectors on the drive in another windows machine using chkdsk /r and you should be able to transfer the data.

I have a dayton plate amp 500@4ohm that I run at 8 ohm and it doesnt get too hot. Then again its pushing a 15 year old MTX 15.

If you throw the drive in another machine you should be able to still run a check on it and recover your data. Let me know if you need help with it.

Boot into safe mode with command prompt
Type services.msc
Right click on anything that says mcaffee and set the startup type to Disabled
Go back to the command prompt
do chkdsk c: /r
reboot
Let it run the checkdisk
If it finds errors, document them, call acer, and if its under warranty you'll need a new hard drive.
view your desktop in awe.

Another option is to use a 12v amp (if you have a spare or extra) and get a 12v power supply or converter for in the house
This would cost a lot more, and generate more heat and complexity. Get a plate amp, or a rack mounted amp. It'll be cheaper and better.

I've heard that linux support is better with nvidia cards, dont think I've ever tried to get an ATI working on linux. Which distro are you planning to use?

I'm still trying to understand why you're getting a whole new card. I dont know if thats the route I would have chosen. Getting another smaller card and using it for phsyx or CUDA would work just as well, and cost less.

You have 2 PCI-E slots.
Get a second 50$ card and throw it in the other one to run your 3rd monitor. No reason to spend a bunch of money.
If you want to stick with nvidia, get something like a 9600gs, you could even use it as a physix card when you're gaming.

True, and most of our systems at half volume are louder than most at full volume. I tend to forget that sometimes.

I dont understand why you'd be running full tilt at a stop light?? I mean Kudos for knowing your stuff and dealing with the officer in a professional manner but dont give the cops a reason to bother you and you wont have issues

I wasnt going full tilt, it was about half way up. I do turn it down at stop lights.
Hearing music from 50 feet away is HIGHLY subjective. Even if its not quiet out, you could hear most stock stereo's from 50 feet away. If I was going full tilt it would have been 5,280 feet away.

So a while ago while on my way to pick up my kids I was banging out some old school bestie boys at a stoplight, all the windows down, about to turn into the elementary school (it was after hours). Next thing I know when I pull in, a townie pulls in behind me and blocks me in.
Officer: "You know I could write you a ticket for that right?"
"Oh, I didnt think you could, what would you write me a ticket for?"
Officer: "I can write you a ticket if I can hear your music from 50 feet away"
I quoted him, word for word the law he was refering to, and pointed out that it stated in the law that it said "on the highway"
Officer: "How did you know that?"
Officer: "I emailed the local police cheif when I moved in a few months ago and asked him if there was any local noise ordances, he gave me the code number and I looked it up"
Officer: "Well you're still disturbing the peace"
"I'm sorry officer, but those laws are only in affect before 10am and after 10pm"
Officer: "inaudible grumble"
"I'm sorry officer, but if there's nothing else I have to pick up my kids."
officer says something about hearing emergency vehicles as hes getting in his car and drives away
Dont get me wrong, I have nothing against the police, my dad was an officer for over 15 years. He always taught me to know my rights and stay calm when talking to the police. He also reminded me that an officer can, if you piss him off, hold you for 24 hours under "suspicious activity". So just remember, be calm, and respectful, and it'll end up like this

Bootloader is unlocked, I've already flashed a custom rom to it and its pretty stable and snappy (new Supreme Sense ROM).
The rom had all the CPU profiles, but it doesnt come with google play, but it strips all the branded apps out except the ones that are needed for Sense and options. It also adds some sweet sound apps (like the beats headphone app and the xsony app) and a new DSP manager. I really wish it came with a terminal client, right now I'm fighting with a2sd. Right now when I try to install an apk the damn thing just reboots itself (and doesnt install the app)

I usually use silicone, I read somewhere you arent supposed to use liquid nails, cant remember why.

How do you guys game with the same keyboard and mouse for htat long? Its usually hte mouse or keyboards fualt Im sucking and it goes for a ride.
I actually know quite a few pros that use a regular old plain jane microsoft intellimouse. Back when I gamed full time (think quake 2 era) I was ranked 82 on worldstats and I played with an MS mouse.
Most of the other Professional CSS players I know play with the same MS mouse as well.
i meant i usually break them lol.
Usually the games I play I dont get too mad at cause I'm wicked good at them. I have spilt alcohol on the keyboard while playing. Then I just put it in the dishwasher and let it set for a few days to dry and its good as new.

It was rooted because of issues I was having with the touchscreen that seemed to be software related. Its also overclocked now to 1.2 ghz.
I'm looking for Google play, but I think I have that covered. I'm looking for aps to do stuff you wouldnt normally be able to on a non-rooted phone.
