  1. I was certain that you can only have 4 GPU max when during SLI or Crossfire.

    I heard that 680's are better then 690's. here is a link - http://www.videocard...h_end_gpus.html

    Just my 2 cent :)

there is no way a 680 is better then a 690. A 690 consists of 2 680's......i don't know who's results those are but they won't be mine. I personally own 2 GTX 580's and its showing the 690 BARELY better then that one. I think not LOL.

I know I'm a week late, but I'll chime in on this, as well.

That chart is not performance only. It factors performance VS cost, meaning the 680 is the best balance of price and performance. :)

  2. Didn't get a chance to read the entire thread, but I just wanted to chime in. You can't do 3 690s. You can only do up to Quad-SLI, and 1 690 is made up of 2 680Ms in SLI. So, when you do 2 690s in SLI, you're actually doing 4 680Ms in Quad-SLI.

    Otherwise, badass build!

thanks for the advice, Captain Late. LOL :)

I had a feeling it had to be mentioned somewhere in the 10 pages, but I thought I'd post anyway just to be safe. :P

  3. Can I have that case? I need something to protect my DSLR... :P

yup you can.....when i get it, its yours. I don't need it. My wife has a DSLR Sony cam and a nice case already...but i prefer the handheld Cybershot (sony) cams myself. I hope i remember to give it to you but don't worry i won't give it to anyone else. Heck, i don't even know when i am getting this stuff i just know i am on the list! :D

Hate to sound like a greedy asshole, but did you ever get your rewards?

  4. Thought I might as well post this.

Anyone here a big "game preorderer"?

I've always been the type of person to pay for a game entirely before it comes out, so I'm not hit with $60 at one time.

Here's my list of what I have preordered so far:

    Assassin's Creed 3 [360] - Paid For

    Dishonored [360] - Paid For

Need for Speed: Most Wanted [360] - $20 down

CoD: Black Ops II [360] - $20 down

South Park: The Stick of Truth [360] - $5 down

Lego City: Undercover [WiiU] - $5 down

    Wii U Pro Controller - $5 down

I've been trying to find somewhere to preorder a Wii U, but I haven't found one yet, so I might just have a game and a controller on release day... lol

I also have my own personal "preorder bank account" for GTA V and Watch Dogs. Neither are preorderable yet, so I have the money for those sitting in partition of bank account right now.

    I'm addicted...

  5. Think of it like this:

If you stay where you are and just drive the 45 minutes everyday, you'll spend $X on gas.

If you move, you'll spend $Y, but also pay $Z for rent.

If (Y + Z) > X, then stay at home and enjoy the drive.

I almost made this mistake a while back.

I had a 40 mile drive to work, 40 home. 80 miles a day, 16mpg, figured for $3/gallon, ended up being something like $700 a month.

The apartments I was looking were like $1100 a month, PLUS it was still about 10 miles of driving per day, so gas still ended up being like $100 or something.

$1200 > $700, so I just stayed at home and dealt with the drive.

  6. First off, I know there's a "What are you eating on" thread, but I just wanted to keep this thread for recipes.

I don't know if any of you are into cooking or not, but I just thought I'd throw it here anyway.

In my free time I like to throw stuff in a pot and see how it comes out. I thought I would document it here and let you all know how it tastes. Feel free to try them yourself, although be warned, I rarely measure stuff.

Today's dish, I like to call it the Ultimate Chicken Mac and Cheese Soup.

    Ingredients:

    1LB boneless, skinless chicken breast

    Mrs Dash

    Paprika

    Ground Cumin

    Ground Mustard Seed

    Flour

Pepsi Next - Paradise Mango flavor

"No Yolks" Egg White Pasta (Although any pasta will do)

2 cans condensed cream of chicken soup

    1/2LB Velveeta Cheese block

First, I mixed the Mrs Dash, paprika, cumin, mustard, and flour all in a bowl. I didn't measure it but it seemed like about 1/2 of the mix was flour, 1/3 was an equal mixture of Mrs Dash and paprika, and the last remainder was an equal mixture of the cumin and mustard. I then cut the chicken into small 1 inch slices and put it in the seasoning mixture, covering every piece. The chicken was then put into a frying pan on high, and then covered with about 1/3 of the bottle of Pepsi. Fry it until all there is no more Pepsi in the pan.

While that's happened, I had all the noodles cooking in a separate pan. Cook them, drain then, and then put them back in the same pan they were in. Add the 2 cans of condensed soup + 2 cans of water and stir it until the condensed chicken soup is, well, not condensed anymore.

At this point I put the cheese block in the noodles and added the chicken to the mix. Stir until the cheese is melted and mixed up.

    The Verdict:

I loved it. Unfortunately no one else is here to try it. I thought the seasoning or the mango pepsi was going to have an overpowering taste, but it all mixed together to have a very great taste.

If you feel like trying something new, go ahead and try this.

  7. I've heard that linux support is better with nvidia cards, dont think I've ever tried to get an ATI working on linux. Which distro are you planning to use?

If I end up needing to switch to NVidia, I'll do it. I'm only using that card because it's laying on my desk unused at the moment.

I'll probably just throw something simple like Ubuntu.

  8. Case: Velocity Micro (Unnamed Prototype Case)

    Mobo: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP

    CPU: Intel i5-2320

    CPU Cooler: Stock Intel Cooler

    HDD1: Seagate Barricuda 320GB 7200RPM

HDD2: Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green

    RAM: Patriot 1333MHz 8GB

    Video: Gigabyte 4650

    PSU: Antec Modular 750W

    Optical: None

Because the case is a prototype, I probably won't be able to get exterior shots for you guys.

Going with the 2320 because I won't be overclocking or doing anything intense, this is just a linux box.

HDD choices because I have them laying around.

The video card was also just laying around, so I'm using that.

No optical because I have no need for one. I have an external drive I'll use for installationg, but after that I won't need one anymore.

Anyway, this machine will be a 24/7 rig. It will be used mainly as a home media server, and eventually will be upgraded to be an Android build rig.

I should be starting on this build pretty soon.

  9. First things first, you need a domain.

    I recommend purchasing from namecheap.com

For about $10/year you can buy your .com address. Others are more or less.

Then you'll need hosting. GoDaddy, HostGator, and a few others offer it foras little as $5/month, or you can go through a company such as 000webhost that will host for free.

If you want more help, feel free to PM me with specific question and I'll get you going.
