  1. I had a pair of original 12w3's way back when they first came out and put 1200 to the pair i had with no problems so thats why im saying more power to what he already has. But sadly getting loud is never cheap or easy but i would say to start with a more powerful amp and work off of that.
  2. Keep your subs for now and just throw more power to them, 1200 isnt alot so id get a larger amp to power those.
  3. Yes Alt to battery+ Battery to engine Chassis to engine I do one more and thats a battery to chassis.
  4. I have one running a pair of the si bm recones at 4 ohms it still pounds good, those are some really nice amps and mine runs as cool as can be.
  5. Passive crossover points are predetermined points that cant be changed after they are made where the active allows you to control its enter and exit points along with the rolloff slopes. Even the most expensive home speakers still use passive crossovers along with biamp or triamp capabilities. Active allows you to choose the points and slopes at which you want to use for a given speaker in a setup with the turn of a knob. The only real downside to passive is the amount of power they can take.
  6. I'd go for the glossy one but you'll really wanna call them and make certain its a direct fit replacement.
  7. Reformatting is the same as a desktop, just backup what you want on another drive and you'll be fine. Just make sure you have all the disks to reinstall all the drivers.
  8. It's more about control than anything else, passive can be limited and requires someone with knowledge on how to make custom crossovers and active allows anyone to customize the sound themselves. Neither one are really better than the other its just a matter of making changes as needed and active allows the most options in car audio to make the changes needed for your particular car and setup.
  9. Sounds good just run to the store and get some cans of great stuff to seal those seams with and order some deadening material for the deck lid to stop it from rattling, elemental design has some for $1.00 a ft and works well on a budget.
  10. Check this thread for some ideas on what you wanna do. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=41674 AQ has a special going right now at some really nice prices. http://www.audioque.com/aq/order.htm If your not sure on a box type just ask someone to design one for you here on the forum but like was said you'll wanna pick the gear first them make a box accordingly.
  11. You really might wanna deaden the truck, your getting alot of panel rattle making finding a problem even harder but thats prolly where the problem lies. There are alot of products to use like SS, hushmat and others to do the trick. It really sounds like the subs are fine and your just getting cabin noise and mistaking that for bad sounding subs.
  12. Didnt see anywhere on the site for interest rates, never done business with them personally so i dont know about them. Id try to get a personal loan from a credit union as they'd have the best rates but you could also try working out a deal with your friends mom on a payment method.
  13. Pull the subs and check the spiders or anything inside the box itself that could cause anything wierd. Like a plastic bag that may have been sucked in or something.
  14. If you have a ported box place a hand over the ports and see if that stops it, if not pull the grills and lightly tug on the surrounds to see if they have broke free from the basket.
  15. Sorry to hear and get well soon. BTW: no doa's on the coils and subs sound awesome, Thanks
  16. If you wanna swap a bigger motor in id try to hunt down a wrecked ride and scavange it for everything you need like the ecu, trans and other small things to make it all work. You'll find what your looking for but it can take time to get it.
  17. Right section but wrong forum for what ya need, but anyway check. Craigslist Classifieds Ebay http://www.car-part.com/
  18. Sennheiser HD212Pro also and if the cord ever gets damaged you can just buy a new one instead of a complete headset.
  19. They use keyloggers to get your info. Just stay away from gold selling sites and you shouldnt have any problems.
  20. My war has 280 days played, My druid has 140 days played and 6 toons at 80 so i know how ya feel.
  21. It can take up to 2 weeks for a restore so it'll be a while. Spend the $6.50 and get an authenticator, i have one and damn glad to have it.
