  1. I have that amp, and it just doesn't put out the power you want sealed

in a ported box, you may get better output, but even free air you will only get about 1/4" of excursion if that.

I got lucky with that amp and a 18" I made that just had super soft suspension.

But bottom line, that set up, I would do ported, and tune it low

do you have the grounding issue with the amp?

    ill keep that in mind.

    fixed link.

  2. hello SMD im in need of a design.

i want to do a single 12 in a sealed box. its going to be for a home theater project. Its gonna fit a single 12 infinity kappa perfect and a dayton 240 watt amp. Sub needs about 1 cube and the amp displacement is 8.5 x 8.5 x ???

not sure on the depth, parts express says its 5 inches deep, but not sure if that is the whole item (heat sink fins and all) here is the one im looking at : http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-804

i would like to do a down fire with the plate amp on the back.

    thanks.

  3. so i decided it was time for a new box, change it up. seemed like a good idea.

so this is the type of box i wanted:

    rearbox-1-1.jpg

contracted out someone on another forum for $20 for the design.

    cut log

    Dual-SSI-1244-cut-list-2-1.jpg

so my normal hookup with tools decided not to call be back ... ever. so i took out an add on craigslist, it panned out so im happy bout that. $170.

grid patter double baffle, i thought it was neat

primed it, 2 cans of black $.97 each (home depot)

    more of the same

i tried to use this stuff, suppose to give a rubber like texture. i applied it to the bottom but it didn't seem to work out, i dont know. taped it off cause i only wanted it on the bottom.

    DSCN2388.jpg

then i hit it with a can of rustolium (?) texture paint, its pretty sweet. may03lt did it, it was sweet on his, so i decided to do it. i think i did ok for the first time using a spray can.

    fits like a glove :D

then i find this awesome-ness. i have no idea how it happened, but it did. i need to contact ssackett or treo or team psi figure out how much its gonna be :(

  4. ah man its some good suff.

i wanna say i saw your vid the other day some good stuff there.

ive only heard IA a few times, i wanna say ive heard 2x of their lowest end, the $100 subs, and ive heard the 21" once.

OP needs to look at some stuff other than kicker, i know he loves kicker, .... sorry i should say he likes kicker, lol. i too enjoy the cvr, but there is some good chit out there just need to listen to some stuff.

    cough TREO cough cough :D

  5. kinda a strange request dont you think?

you dont usually associate good music with a rear stage, and yet you have a rear stage and in addition you want to run more rear stage?

i have no experience with this kind of thing, but it seems like every extra speaker ive seen has been in a sealed box. but at the same time, i thought that speakers were mostly free air. i know some people have said that they have less low end response when they put their speakers into door pods cause they are taking free air speakers and enclosing them.

i dont know what you drive, but is a kick pannel speaker enclosure from qlogic or some customs ones available? or fiberglassing the rear portion of your door for some regular sized speakers?

  6. Honestly I've never run a 'vanilla' CMoy. They're so simple that I've always gone the whole hog and done buffered output ones with discrete rail splitters and blah blah the list goes on :P

Yes, they sound very good for what they are and what they cost.

any idea's on a portable amp? links?

probably going with the denon 2000 or the AKG's

  7. Im looking really hard at the AKG's they look really nice, and have some good reviews (pretty much all i can go on). plus just found that they are owned by harmon international (harmon/kardon, JBL, Infinity, Mark Levinston, ....)

as for the Cmoy. doing a little research (cause school is a pain right now, last 3 weeks always are) look pretty neat. not really sure what to look for. checked out ebay under "cMoy" found a few, seems to be mostly by one dude for the mint can looking ones. do you know if they are any good?

    here is one:

  8. ok thats great. lol.

i personally dont run monster wire, i have their RCA's, but only cause i had a friend who worked at circuit city at the time. i also have a pair of the turbine in ear headphones, i was a product tester, i totally lied on my resume, hehe.

    im currently looking into:

monster - beats by dr. dre

    Denon AHD2000

    AKG k 271 mk ii

anyone ever use a headphone amp?
