  1. My local car audio shop is vwery generous to me they usually give me 10%-15% off all their products and they are very helpful to me they have answered every question I have thrown at them, Plus I like to support my local stores as its a family owned store not some corporation owned store. The reason why I don't go through them is because my friend wants a non name brand system I.E he wants something that no one around here has. I will only go to the store to get a dash kit from them in my ways to support my local shop. I have looked at the SundownAudio site and I did not see the Sundown Audio E Series D4 12's only in D4. I saw the RMS output on the Sundown Audio E Series and my friend would like 600 watts RMS or more.I have looked at the Alpines and JL's but he would like something non name brand but just as good. I have no problem buying off of Ebay just as long as its Pay Pal on Ebay its good and safe as long as its though Pay Pal. I was once told that Hifonics HIFI series does not do rated power not sure if its true or not. Confirm or Deny?
  2. Hey all, I have a friend that recently got into car audio because of me and now he wants a system. But he has a $1000.00 budget for an all sound quality system. I pointed him into the direction of Skar Audio, Audioque ( Now SoundQubed), DCSoundLabs, Cresendo, and Obsidian Audio.Hes all about sound quality but wants his system to loud. but mostly sound quality. Heres the catch he has a small car a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 2.0 Liter Z-Tec Engine with a 80 Amp Alternator. Now I can already see that the alternator will be a big problem with how many watts he wants to run, which is 1000 watts to 1500 watts. He wants to Keep trunk space and was thinking of 2 subs or 1 sub in a sealed box due to size constrants. I showed him Cresendo Audio and he likes the 6.5 components he has heard them VIA Youtube but has not heard them in ear life just Youtube. He would like to turn his rear deck which houses his 6x9 speakers into four 6x9 speakers instead of two 6x9 speakers. So he would like 4 6x9's 1-2 subs a single Amp to power the subwoofers and an amp for the speakers for a cheap buget of $1000.00. I have yet to take him to my local Car Audio Shop but he has said he would like to have a non name brand system I.E Alpine, Morel, JL Audio, Kicker, Audison, Hertz, All that is what the local audio store carries. If anyone can recommend a good setup for an Amp, Subs, Speakers four 6x9's and two 6.5's, and an amp for speakers that would be much helpful. Thanks in advance.
  3. MailB00M I emailed you yesterday I hope to hear from you soon, Thanks for responding to my plea.
  4. Hi, I was told that Kevin from Skar Audio could help (via thread prior) (I tried to email you but I have not gotten an email back) me build a system for a friend. This is going to be his first system so he does not need anything over the top so no 15's or 18's. He gave me a really low budget of only $500 dollars for 2 subs an amp and a sealed box. He wants a good sounding subwoofer but wants the sub to have kick. I've seen your subwoofers on youtube and I like what I see. I think my friend will like what he get when he hears the skars in action with his own ears. My question to you is: Could you suggest 2 of your subwoofers 12" and an amp for the low budget of $500? My E-Mail is [email protected] or please pm me if you can help me out. Thank you for your help.
  5. I E-Mailed Kevin from skar audio using the email listed on his website but I have not heard back fom him and its been almost 4 days. Does anyone else have a suggestion for a sub and amp combo with a box for around $500?
  6. How close can you get to the $500 budget with a box, amp, and 2 subs? Also what wattage are we talking?
  7. Thank you for your quick reply TearDrop I will look into Skar Audio. Would anyone suggest the SDC brand of AudioQue as a contender?
  8. Hey all, Im actually not posting for me, This is for my friend who wants to get into car audio. You people helped me so I thought maybe you can help my friend out. Keep in mind this is going to be his first system and does not want to spend that much and that also means he does not need a super over the top system. He drives a 5.2L V8 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 110 AMP Alternator. He already has a deck but its not the best deck in the world its a Sony CDX-GT35UW the good thing about that deck is that it comes with a subwoofer control. He is after a SQ subwoofer but he also wants it to have kick so good sound quality and loud all at the same time I'm guessing that 2 subwoofers will be good . I already suggested a system that my friend was selling but I dont know if it will perform to his expectations. That system was a single 12" Type R in a sealed box I'm guessing its a 4 ohm but I'm not sure at the current moment being powered by an old Alpine MRD-M605. He was also selling his deck but I cannot read the model number from the picture. Here's the catch, He has a budget of $500 for both the subs and the amp and he wants a sealed box (No idea why). The system mentioned before was well within his price range. (If the system above is good please tell me) I was thinking something maybe not so mainstream not name brand that will preform as good as name brand or perhaps better. I don't know how good the non main stream brands are but if its mentioned on this site then it must be good. He just asked me to see what other options he had and I offered to post on this site for him. So heres what we are dealing with: Cheap $500 budget (Subs and amp) Loud, clear, sounds good. (Wants a strong kick) Wants sealed box (Again no idea why) Two subwoofers to gain that kick (Or one) Non name brand options. Thanks in advance.
  9. So can anyone help me? I read on the AQ site that 2 15" HDC3 woofers like 9.00^ft (Volume). Would that fit in the trunk of a grand cherokee or should I just get 2 12's? But what I really want is the 15's I'm just worried for space reasons if it would fit is all.
  10. Oh sorry. Well here is the picture link. http://wjjeeps.com/interior/cargo_area_dimen.jpg Its the Grand Cherokee rear cargo space all mapped out with measurements.
  11. I think thats where I got stupid....really 'cause not really sure what he meant I just said this. Here is my exact pm to him. Well I want to fill up my trunk space with the box and the subs and I guess i can fit both amps behind my seat. for the measurements here they are. With the rear seat to a closed rear hatch at center its 33". Wall to wall across its 57-1/2". The rear seat back to cargo opening is 30-3/4". The wheel well 40-1/2". And the seat back angle 24 degrees. But that will be filled by one amp I currently have and one that will be coming shortly. Cargo volume in cubic feet: Seats up 39.0. I got the dimensions from this site and its accurate http://www.wjjeeps.c...area_dimen.jpg. I'm interested in doing the hair trick but however if the given dimensions are to small than that's fine and I will just go with a box that will maximize both the subs and the amp to their full potential.
  12. So I don't think Ray wants to help me anymore. Not sure if its because I'm stupid which is probably is but just in case he does not want to help me who else is there to help me design a box for my 2 Audioque HDC3 15" subwoofers?
  13. From what I'm reading on the forum on box rise and such should I get a different amp other than the AQ2200? I don't do test tones all I i play is music with the occasional subwoofer song when I want to show my system. I'm all confused now because I never figured in box rise. What ohm impedance would I be looking at? I'm lost. Could someone please teach me the ways of advanced car audio.
  14. Why would I not see that kind of power and what is box rise? and voltage drop im getting a new alternator and a yellow top.
  15. Forgot to mention that the subs are going to be seeing 1100-1200 rms each. from an AQ 2200
  16. Hey all, I got another question for you all. I'm finally decided with the subs I'm going to buy along with the amp. The subs are the HDC315 Copper Coil Subwoofer two of them I'm going to both subs so the Voice coils are wired in series and the speakers are wired in parallel into an 1 Ohm load. Now I need a box but the trouble is I'm not sure where to start to design the box and how to tune it and such. Hopefully You people can help me with this. I'm not sure about box rise or what it is either I'm very new to building boxes and I know nothing so please forgive me for asking this many questions. The 2 subs are going in the back of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Hope that helps any.
  17. Would the Hifonics Brutus BRZ2400.1D or the AQ2200 be good for the subs I'm going to buy? I'm going to do the big three with a stock alt. I drive a jeep grand cherokee laredo 2000. I believe its a 132 amp alt... Also anyone answer my earlier post please?
  18. One quick question and it may sound stupid but not sure about this. Here we go... Lets say I have a 2000 watt rms 2 ohm mono amp and I wire Two 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil Speakers to a 2 ohm load does the amplifier recognize this and split the wattage evenly 1000 going to each sub or does the amp output 2000 to each sub. I know stupid question but I just wanna know before I try this out and either blow my amp or my subs or both.
  19. So I have looked at some other amps and now I have even more questions sorry but I'm just still so new to this and I have searched around the forum and have found some minimal results. Okay, Lets say I purchased the HDC315 Copper Coil Subwoofer One 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil and wired it to 1 Ohm would AQ1200D Amplifier be able to power it without over powering it? It says the HDC315 can handle 1000 watts rms and at 1 channel the AQ1200D Amplifier outputs 1200 watts rms can it handle the over power? Also as said before I am purchasing two of the HDC315 could I hook up both amps to two separate speaker terminals? And have 2 amps power each woofer separately? Sounds stupid but then again I am still new to this all I'm not even sure if the AQ1200D Amplifier can be strapped or bridged or however it is called. Or should I wire it to a 2 ohm load or 1 ohm? Or should I wire it to a 0.5 ohm load with 2 speakers both dvc 2 ohm. And lastly Two 1 ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Speakers into a 1 ohm load. I'm not sure what to do as I'm not sure what to do God I'm such a noob. Now my other questions come in the form of Amplifier questions. Could these amps power the subs I'm buying to their utmost without blowing them? Also are they good candidates? Either for a 1 amplifier setup or dual amps. Looking for cost effective. 20. So if I get the Crecendo BC2000 I would need to get 2 of them? Perfect its cheaper than the single AQ amp. Another question how would I hook 2 amps up to one deck as I have a separate amp for my speakers.
  21. Sorry forgot to post the budget like 400 or 500 whatever gets me an amp to power the 2 subs. Also whats wrong with the Aluminum coils compared to the copper. Aluminum coil subwoofer was suggested to me in my other thread but the original poster did not reply back I don't believe. I don't know the difference between the 2 could one please explain the sound difference?
