  1. My buddy just bought an '83 280 ZX and the plan is for a wall. I need everyone's opinion on what subs to run, obviously louder the better. We have some ideas but input is always helpful. Lemme know :
  2. x2 it's awesome to see so many people interested in a build, but pics are way better to look at, no offense to anyone
  3. Sick design bro! x3 on the amp dilemma, if ur gonna go big on the subs, may as well go big on the amps. Especially if you are doin it little by little, save up for the right gear and build it up the right way.
  4. x2 on everything said above. I'm using some Purple Power Orange Cleaner/Degreaser and papertowels and it's working better than i expected. Any degreaser works good as long as you aren't pouring half the bottle on, a good spray and let it soak for a minute will do the trick. Try to stay away from powerwashing for the simple fact of electrical failure, just like everyone else said. My buddy has a 96 Caddy that he sprayed the entire engine bay down with degreaser than powerwashed the entire motor. Ended up with water in his motor and had to wait for it to cycle out through the oil, absolute bitch of a time.
  5. Funny story about Kicker: I stopped up at one of our local custom shops and i was getting my system metered. I had a pair of CVR 12s in a custom built box which metered 135.3 (shitty i know, i had a brain fart, crossed some speaker wire and the amp kept cuttin out on me) Anyways, the guy who was doin the metering said he could show me a "Real" system so he brought his Audi into the shop. He had a single 10" Kicker Solo X which IMO slammed mad hard. I asked him about the break in period and he said "I just beat on the sub until i smell burning coil, than turn it down, let it cool and crank the hell out of it again." Well, he cranked it and we started smelling coil, so he turned it down and we popped the trunk and saw smoke pouring out of the port, needless to say, that's NOT how you break in a Kicker Sub. hahahahahahaha
  6. i wouldn't put 600 rms each to them, far too much power for a single CVR
  7. those kicker amps would do you justice, i don't know too many quality amps that can do 800 at 1 ohm to be honest, maybe 1000 at 2 ohm?
  8. go to this website http://www.delcity.net/store/Solderless-Co...ool/p_10383.a_1 quickest and easiest way i know of, hope this helps ya bro! do work!
  9. putting in larger speaker wire i.e. using 8 ga power wire will help with the transfer between amp and sub, similar to that of using larger power wire to transfer power from battery to amp (completely different at the same time however) I'm going to be using 4 ga. power wire for my speaker wire, waaaaaay over kill and totally not necessary but it looks cool too
  10. do an interchangeable port so that you can tune it low for daily and high for competition
  11. Caps won't do much of anything other than fry out if they are being used in a system where the amp pushes more than 500 rms, atleast that's my take from what i've noticed
  12. Whats the Year and motor again? I had a ranger last year and i'm pretty good at crossing alternators from different models of vehicles. PM me so i remember, i got a few catalogs to cross reference
  13. you could get a pair of full loaded Fi BTLs for about 1100 depending on the options you put in. That would definitaly be louder
  14. def subs up port back. do a tunable port kinda like steve's in his hoe
  15. DAMN!! that was serious flex! i'm gonna have to try a box like that when i get my new setup, great find in the vids
  16. If you go into Steve's videos on his site, there is a video of him at Chicken's house and he's playin Broadway and it's chopped and skrewed, sick song
  17. You want to watch it with Kicker subs, i was reading up on them a couple years ago and if you overpower them even in the slightest, they blow very easily. Now i'm not knockin Kicker cause i started with a pair of 12" Kicker CVRs which kicked ass. Do you have any other preferences in subs, or is it just those 3?
  18. Damn bro, that's how a truck is supposed to be built! major props, gives me more guts to rip into my truck when i get it this summer. Awesome job!
