  1. Take my build as an example when I ran a ddzse, 7k rms. I ran a single mechman 240 alt and 6 xp3000s.

This allowed me to play close to full songs full tilt before giving it a break. With that setup I could demo for 1-2 minutes balls to the wall and stay above 12 volts. In the amount of time it took to switch songs, voltage was back and ready to go again.

240 amps of alt is really only good for a 3.5k amp max unless ypu start adding lots of batteries and or caps.

  2. alcohol is not illegal.. weed is legal in some states but its still illegal to the feds.. so just because Colorado and Washington legalized it dont make it legal.. wait when the Feds starts busting their assess and their local state laws cant help them in a federal court

to the point. if i was a parent i woldnt allow my kids in a forum talking about weed and alcohol. im sure many parents would agree with me. alcohol, drugs and cigarettes should have their on place in the 18+ section.

Haha I don't want to get into a discussion of states rights vs federal government power here.

The question was about influences on under aged kids and Alcohol is still very illegal for anyone under 21. If a picture of a cartoon Monkey rolling something green into a cigar is a bad influence to kids I would certainly think that real pics of bottles of alcohol and real people drinking it would be the same.

Personally, I don't really care. I don't think a picture of anything is going to "influence" someone to go do something they wouldn't already but its an interesting topic to discuss...And I think we agree haha

you have your views i have mine.. kids see their parents drink alcohol in occasions more than they see them do drugs.. you can socially drink a beer, you cant socially get high 2 major differences but then you have those idiots who abuse alcohol

i can care less though because i do either of those.. alcohol is only bad when its abused. drugs are always bad even if not abused

^I mean...you definitely can socially get high. The vast majority of recreational users never smoke alone. They smoke and hangout with their friends in the exact same way they would drinking some beers. Personally, I would't and don't do either around my kids. But, I don't want to clutter up the RPP anymore so I'm out!

I will leave you with a closing thought though to your underlined opinion: Is alcohol not a drug?

  4. that said, i still think anything weed related should be in the 18+ section in my opinion. weed is not bad but the promotion of it here can be an influence to underage kids. like i said i have nothing against it but just like half naked pics of girl need a section the weed needs its own. i see nothing wrong with people using it or even seeing people post about it but i can see how a parent wouldn't want their kid on here if all they see is weed propaganda. at that point the forum is not aimed at all ages and just 18+ members. even though i see no harm in it i dont think its something parents want their 12 year old seeing in this forum

Would you also agree then, that any post with alcohol in it should be banned form the public part of the forum? Because there are tons of those everywhere and its just as much an influence to underage kids...in reality those posts should be only for a 21+ section too right?

  5. I recently sold off all of my xp3000s in favor of running banks of supercaps. I have 8 banks (soon to be 10) of 6 caps now so my max charging voltage is 16.2V.

I mostly compete in IASCA classes which require you to have a battery under the hood. So I can't totally ditch batteries but I want to charge a bit higher to squeeze as much out of my system as possible.

So my question to the XS crew is: can I run a d1400 daily under the hood but charge around 15.8v? Will this damage the battery over time or will I just see a little less performance out of it than if I were in the mid 16s?

  6. Lol this was going to be my exact answer. The amp producing 1000 watts at 2 ohms has to be producing a voltage at the output terminals 4x that of the amp making 1000 watts at .5 and it only has to output 1/4 of the current. I'd guess the energy lost through heat in the coil and wiring of the .5 ohm setup would result in enough power loss to at least see a small difference on the meter.

1000W is 1000W. I'd guess they would be the same. However factoring in real world things like speaker wire impedance and connection impedance I feel that the higher voltage setup would win since the current would be 1/4 of that of the 0.5 ohm setup. Power loss = current x current x impedance. So for the same speaker wire impedance the 0.5 ohm system would loose 16x the power of the 2 ohm system in the speaker wiring alone assuming both systems use the same amount of wire.

didnt read more than 5 words

a amp doing this at that... vs a amp doing that and this..

    well fuck....

Edit- you think you can GAIN one the meter? or chill on the electrical,... or get louder by wiring this with that and coils, with this and that?

I honestly don't know what you are saying here man but if I can figure it out I'll try to answer...

  8. Interesting...Can't say anything about the internals but the + and - plates on these are certainly different than the Maxwell caps I run. Looking forward to some comparison tests between the two and whether or not the XS can be wired up in a bank with the Maxwells.

I very much like that they are black too, the blue does NOT go well with the rest of the rodeo lol

  9. ^I think the results would really depend on the amp. Some amps will put out ALOT of power past 1% distortion (IIRC thats the percent the DD-1 detects) but they will still not yet be driven into clipping. Other amps will distort and clip at the same point.

I would liken this to the certified and uncertified amp dyno modes. I would imagine amps that are further apart on these two modes when put on the dyno would have a much greater variation in score.
