  1. do i have to buy them off there website or where can i find them? i was also thinking re audio but i dot know how good they are. i dont really know much about car audio. before i came here i thought i knew a lot about it but i also thought kicker was the best shit you could get but i was way off my skar vvx 15 sounds and bangs a whole lot better and harder then my kicker L5 i had. lol but anyway, amps, where can i purchase or find the AQ or what are some other good car audio sites that i can find good deals.

  2. find a dealer that sells the brand you wanna hear and go listen to them.

not to be mean but you sound dumb how is he going to find a skar dealer when im almost positive the only dealers are on line unless its a individual but still doubtful and as for DC im almost positive to that if you dont live in or around cali....well good luck i havent seen any dealers for either skar or DC around me and i live in MN so if i was asking this question how would you suggest i listen to them and compare?

The problem with your statement is you don't know where this guy lives. Just because you don't have a dealer near you doesnt mean he wont either. I have a Skar Dealer and a shit ton of DC and Sundown installs around me and I am in Miami. Best thing he can do is find out who is around him and what they have. The suggestion maebros made happens to be the oldest and best to do things when it comes to suggesting what someone should put in their car. Bass is suggestive what you think sounds great may sound like shit to the op so telling him go with this or that before he has heard it is just as bad as him going to youtune and picking a sub that way. The ultimate best thing to do is pick a top 3 and google the hell out of them. Read reviews compare specs and go from, ultimately it will come down to how he designs his enclosure and how solid his electrical.

OP, honestly of your list I think the Skar IVX's are a solid entry level sub. Skar actually has a b stock sale that you may want to jump on with your current budget. Also take a look at the Sundown E or SD series. I think the DC Level 3 may be out of your price range if you're looking for 2 subs.

i understand that hearing the subs in person is the best way to determine what you like. but on the other hand i was making a point i dont know were he lives, but i myself live in minnesota, so therefor how would i be able to listen to them in person when there is no dealers around me. so if he is in the same situation as me then how would he listen to them? not everybody is fortunate enough to have a lot of different dealers around them. now with that being said if he is in a similar situation as myself then yes read a whole lot of reviews. but thats about it you could look on youtube but obviously we all know youtube doesnt do justice. i wasnt trying to be mean but thats what i was getting at is if he has no dealers around him, like myself and im sure other people how would he listen to them to see what one fits him or the one he likes best?

In that case I would say do what some of us have done and start a thread like Minnesota roll call or "your state name here" roll call and find out who is local you would be surprised how many members here live around each other. Who knows you might luck out and get to hear a few different brands and draw your own conclusion.

If all else fails you're going to have to dive in and make a pick based on reviews and opinions.

never thought about that or knew people did that. and maebro that would be the best way to go about choosing but i was just trying to also state that he may not be able to do what you suggested and also have him also have other options on how else he could go about choosing

  3. or could it be the box because i just built a piece of shit box that did not turn out at all as i planned last night. i hope its not the box because it was a bitch to build ( my first box build ever)

  4. I'd rather run it at 4, 1ohm will prolly put it in protect or heat it up and drop output for short intervals. Doesn't take much to make those Kenwood's unhappy.

lol i think thats the problem im having now actually when im playing my music loud my sub bangs then it wont be as loud for a little bit then it will hit again or rarely the sub will make a small pop and cut all the way out for a min then turn back on/ is this because of the amp not being able to take the 1ohm or could it be because im running 16 gauge wire which i will be replacing on saturday. but i think im going to return the amp tomorrow and save for a better 1000 or 1200 watt amp that is 1ohm capable? what do you and anyone else think i should do

  7. If youre buying one sub now, get the voice coil configuration that will let you to drop to 1 ohm or whatever once you get all 4 woofers. You can't mix d2 and d4's so choose correctly.

so are you saying that it would be better to get the D2 for now and wire it to 1ohm than when i get the 4 get the D4 for the bigger setup? if this is what you are saying than i had thought the same thing i just wanted to make sure, also i wanted to know the difference between the 2 and 4. and which ones are better for the set up i want and why they are better. i want to learn as much as i possibly can and you guys have already taught me some much already in the short time ive been here so thanks for everything guys

  8. There is no difference between series and parrallel, or d4 and d2. It's only there to let you adjust the type of amp you can run to the subs.

    Actually yes there is.

    so what is the difference?

Sub will run cooler and more efficient when wired in parallel as opposed to series with both having the same final impedance.

so essentially it would be better to run your subs parallel than it would in series and the outcome would be better as far as power goes and it would run more efficient and cooler like you already said lol?

  9. only way to find out is to set ur gains with a dd1. when you do the bigger build that all depends on the amp youre gona get.

ok i dont know what im going to have as far as a amp goes yet lol but when the time comes to do the big build i will have everything i need to have it done properly or at least i think i know what i will need lol

  10. in that case you will want the d2 coils for ur sub.

they say the skars are underrated, so if you do put the whole 800 watts to the 600 watt sub be carefull its not a dirty signal, or else its bye bye sub.

how do i figure out if its a dirty signal? and when i buy 4 for my big build should i buy the D4s?

  11. There is no difference between series and parrallel, or d4 and d2. It's only there to let you adjust the type of amp you can run to the subs.

    Actually yes there is.

i understand there is differences between them all, but i think for his sake it doesnt matter as much. besides being able to keep up the electrical by running smaller ohm loads, and the thermal rise as the ohm load drops.

i just want to be able to run my 15 and 800w on stock electrical for the time being and not worry about blowing my sub or frying my amp or doing any damage to my system or my car but i also want to be able to get the most out of what i am going to get too.

  12. ok i guess to help you guys get what i am going to do and maybe help you guys out a little bit more to help me out i will tell you exactly what im going to do. as of now i am going to get a skar audio vvx-15 and the skar audio sk800.1 stable to 1ohm so would it be better overall for me to buy the D2 or D4?

  13. I just noticed my previous statement was off, so il make it simpler. Say you have a 1000 watt d2 sub and you are looking to power it. You would either look for an amp that can do 1000 watts at 1 ohm, or and amp that can do 1000 watts at 4 ohms (generally those are more expensive)

    Hope that makes sense.

o ok i think i get it now, so the 1000w amp at 4ohms would put out more power with subs wired to 2 ohms than the 1000w 1ohm amp would to the sub? and so would it be better for me to get a 4ohm amp with 4 D4 subs and wire them to 2ohm then? or get 4 D2 subs and wire them to 1ohm on a 1ohm amp

  14. if your only running one 15 and its a dual 2, you can either wire it to stay at 2 ohm or take it to 1 ohm. but if you do multiple subs, youll normally buy a dual 4

No dude, if you're only running a single d2 woofer you can only bring it down to 1 ohm in parrallel, or higher it to 4 ohms in series. You can't leave it at 2 ohms.

so is parallel better than series or does it depend on what you want out of your system?

  15. if your only running one 15 and its a dual 2, you can either wire it to stay at 2 ohm or take it to 1 ohm. but if you do multiple subs, youll normally buy a dual 4

ok thanks I am planning on running at least 4 in my truck when i get the money to start i just want something for the time being because my build is going to be a slow build a buy one thing at a time type build lol thanks for helping out though i appreciate it. :drink40:
