  1. From what I read he said if you used a DD-1 to set your amp period and it blew up then he would not warranty it after the first time, unless he's changed his tune
  2. who knows, that guy can't seem to make up his mind.. I can't wait til Steve gets that 1500 to see what's going on.
  3. Bought some Stinger 1/0 wire from him,it was great communications,he shipped pretty quick even though he had some things going on at the homefront. Wire was as posted and in great shape. Pleasure to do business with and I'll be back if he has something else that I need. Thanks Scooter
  4. Latest DB-R post------ I read the thread over at SMD. Have this to say, now that I have cooled off a little bit about people attacking me over this thing and my repair warranty policy regarding it's use/mis-use. The failures that customers had relayed to me, were when they FIRST tried to use the DD-1 the problem happened. Not after months, years, blah blah. FIRST TIME. Did the DD-1 cause the problem or was it purely user error? I don't know, am not familiar with the DD-1 I do not own one. Am I saying you should not own one, NO, you can own one, most people reported good luck with them. Buy it if it makes you happy. Am I saying there is even a smidge of a chance that you could break your Sundown or other amp with the DD-1, YES. How, I do not know, don't follow the directions and that's what you get. Send it to us for repair, get it back, do the same thing to the amp again and expect us to warranty it, NO. Make sure you are using the thing according to the instructions. We won't fix your amp over and over again for free if we think it's something you are doing to cause the problem. That is ANY repair shop, not just this one. We don't work for free. Do I own a DD-1? NO. ______________
  5. So did he just say that it's most likely not the DD-1's fault, but instead it's the user's fault? I think that's the first time he's said that that's what it sounds like to me but he can't seem to make up his mind on what he thinks.. All I know is from reading his comments I'm glad I don't have any products that they would have to service bcus that's bad for business when you talk to/about people like he was. I can't deny that I antagonized him some but I mean really dude, going to blame someone's mistake on the DD-1 and respond to comments like that, that's just shitty representation of the company..not good for Sundown either.
  6. This is Jacob's reply on it,I'm not familiar with him I'm guessing he's with Sundown... "It seems this thread is being misunderstood. Our warranty has nothing to do with the dB-R repair warranty. Chris is talking for himself about his amp repair warranty. We are not dB-R and dB-R is not us -- dB-R is a company we use to repair our amps; they are a dealer for us; and they also sell refurbs of our products (that are covered by their warranty as well). I imagine that a failure caused by using a DD-1 would likely have to be related to a usage issue; possibly the probe touching the amp output and the case at the same time or something to that effect. I haven't seen the failure myself to know for sure, though." __________________ - Jacob Fuller - Owner, Sundown Audio - Co-Owner, Obsidian Audio - Sundown Audio on FACEBOOK - My PMS are disabled... email me -- [email protected]
  7. So what has Sundown said about this bs?? Have they heard anything about this happening wth the DD-1?
  8. i have proved over and over and over that it's great. There is countless video's out there showing the DD-1 side by side with the most expensive scopes you can buy and its perfect every time. You guys don't know how many people tell me "ya i actually bought one and DID put it next to my scope just to see and you are right, it is dead on". so even other people have verified for themselves. I have not had one single person email me and say "i bought a DD-1 and my amp fried as soon as i touched it". Not A SINGLE ONE. I have sold over 3,000 units and not a single amp was ever reported damaged to me. That fucking loser who claims he blew 5 amps from it, don't you think he woulda emailed me or called me bitching? i know i would, i know you would. Its all bullshit. After reading the comments in that forum it's my understanding that it's not happening immediately,it's later on down the road so I'm guessing days, weeks or months. But he doesn't mention anything about the fact that it could be the persons install methods, wiring, voltage, etc.
  9. he's claiming it that forum that it's not only Sundown amps but didn't clarify what other ones they are
  10. here you go Steve, this was the words straight out of his mouth.. I didn't say the DD-1 was going to mess up ALL Sundown Amps, I said it may have messed up .0005% of them. And it could have been user error or something. The particular damage done, was ONLY DONE by users of DD-1's and/or people who touched the +12V wire to the case of the amp, about 50% of the cases, they said it happened right after they setup the amp with the DD-1. That's what I said. I am not going to spend a bunch of time figuring out why. If Steve Meade and Tony Damore want to know what it messed up, I will send them a pic. Will they know what they are looking at and figure out a possible cause. Not likely. It happens, don't know why, until I see more of it happening, not going to bother to "get to the bottom of it". __________________
  11. Hate to post on this thread again but this is what I'm taking about, that's some awesome CS right there. Makes me feel even better that I bought the DD-1/CC-1 combo for myself during the black Friday deal,I know I don't have anything to worry about if some problem arises with them. I'm not worried about that happening though,I use them as the manual says and never had a problem.
  12. there is another post now and db-r won't warranty amps they repair if a dd-1 is used on it after the fix. http://www.caraudioc...-set-gains.html DB-R is giving the DD-1 hell in that post,I'm in the middle of reading it now and I'm about to comment on it.Sounds to me like they have no idea what they're talking about and apparently the Sundown amps have a serious problem they need to look into. All I know is I've had no problems setting gains with the DD-1 on my RF amps,my friends hifonics, JBL, and Lanzar amps. I even set the RF P1000.1 amp that's in my mothers truck with a -15 tone and it's had no problems, doesn't even get warm when I listen to it and I listen a lot louder than she does, right at the HU distortion/clip limit. Glad I don't have a Sundown amp for sure bcus I'd hate to have to deal with the apparent dee dee dee's at DB-R..
  13. the 32 sq ft pack will be plenty for that, you'll have enough to double up on the back trunk wall and trunk lid. Glad I've got a truck, damn at all those curves and valleys.. lol
  14. I just got mine in today and it looks better than the Dynamat Xtreme that's already in my truck. I'll probably start putting it down in my cab floor this weekend
  15. just got my 3Sixty.3 and SS B-stock

  16. Thanks man,I'm deciding whether to get a pair of the 6.5" or the 8". I know the 6.5's would be easier to add on my doors than the 8's but the midbass would be better from the 8's. Either way I'll have to get them fiberglassed in and I haven't done much fiberglassing but have a friend that has some experience with fiberglass. I think I've got enough highs to go with them already so I'm hoping this fill my sound stage perfectly.
  17. That's awesome man,I got my mother into car audio and she loves it. She's 56 and I installed my old setup of a RF P1000.1bd with 2 RF T1D412's in her Trail Blazer for her.always know when she's coming down the road.lol
  18. I didn't introduce myself as I haven't even been in this sub-forum til now. My name is John but everyone calls me JJ, I've loved car audio for a long time but haven't been into it much til a few years ago, starting to really get in it and trying to learn as much as possible. I've done a few installs in my life but nothing big so I have some knowledge of what's going on. I've got a 2003 Chevy S10 Xtreme ext cab,I had a local audio shop do my install about 4-5 years ago, they built my box (built for T2's),installed Kenwood excelon HU,RF P400.4 on Boston Acoustics 6.5 & 4x6 mids/highs and RF punch tweets,a RF P1000.1bd on 2 RF T1D412's,added a 230 amp Stinger alt with the Big 3 later on and I put in a Optima YT battery that was bigger than what is supposed to go in it. I'm in the process of getting my audio parts stocked up for my big install coming up as soon as my truck gets out of body shop (custom ram air hood, sport mirrors, paint and bed liner) and I've got new headlight assemblies with HID going in with relay kit,LED corner bumper lights and LED tail light assemblies. I wish I would've done more research on car audio before I got my new stuff as I didn't know about XS Power,Skar,AA,DC,etc but I still think I'll have a decent setup for a daily driver. It's going to consist of 2 RF T2D412's on a RF T2500.1 bdcp, adding kick panels with a set of Boston SC60's to the mids/highs,running tweets and 4x6's on a P400.4,2 pairs of 6.5's on a P500.4,either 6.5 or 8" midbass drivers (not sure on which brand/type yet but maybe Crescendo PWX)on a P500.2 and going active with a RF 360.3,dual batteries with 2 runs each + & - of 1/0 Stinger/RF wire (OFC of course) So hello to everyone on SMD and any input on some midbass drivers would be appreciated.
  19. Thanks for the update Sonic, wasn't saying you were hiding anything was just curious. I knew you weren't authorized when I purchased my equipment thus the reason I bought the 4 yr Square trade warranty for the amp and 3 yrs on the subs.
