  1. Hey, so I'm thinking about installing a Sundown Salt-6 on my car and sorely need to upgrade my batteries before I do. I currently have a yellow top optima battery up front and 2 small 600w batteries(https://stingersolutions.com/products/600watt-secondary-battery) in the trunk trying to keep up with an Apocalypse AAB-4900.1D and it already isn't enough. Considering this will be a huge upgrade and from what I've seen the Sundown amp can do around 6900w at 1ohm before distortion, I NEED to upgrade before I put this amp in the car. Now here is where I need help, I am by no means a professional and am seriously out of my depth but I'm passionate about my little projects and would rather ask for help than to let my ideas die. Now I've done some research and some back and forth with gpt and decided I'd take my chances here. My vague understanding of what I need from the battery and what gpt(AI) told me landed me at this set of cells(https://www.expertpower.us/products/3-2v-230ah-lifepo4-cells), they build a pack of 12.8v with a maximum of 14.6v, I have installed a high output alternator which charges my current batteries at 14.3v. The cells have a maximum of 690a discharge current, which if what gpt(AI) said is correct should accommodate the maximum theoretical draw that the amp would need at peaks. That is about where my understanding ends, and so I would love to hear what y'all have to say and maybe get some guidance or maybe I need to know some crucial information that I don't know yet. Thankfully I’m not entirely doing this alone, as I have people who are experienced with installing this kind of stuff who are willing to help me, I just need to know what path to start on. I look forward to any replies!

  3. Hey everyone, currently in the market for some new subs for daily use. Looking at either one level 5 15 on a 3.5k, or 2 xl elite 12’s on a 2k each. what would be better in your opinion, and why? thank you
  4. My good friend Aaron, aka Psyph Morrison, has never had a real system in any of his cars before. If you don't know who Psyph is (pronounced Sife), look him up on itunes, spotify or any other music app out there. Youtube as well. I have known him over 10 years and even worked with him on his last 3 albums as an executive producer. Ok, now that is out of the way, the reason he is getting a system is because well, the entire time i have known him and worked with him making music, especially music with a lot of bass, he has never had a system of his own. I don't know anyone who has had more car issues than him so we really never made it to the discussion of a system. Not too long ago he picked up a 2002 Honda Accord 4 door. I knew right then he has a reliable vehicle finally. So i offered to slap some beat in it for him. Watching him pull up, slapping his own music in a (not so great) stock sound system was really bothering me. How can my boy ride around like that if he know's ME? Long story cut short...his car is at my shop for a few weeks while i figure out what i am going to do. I have NO "plans". I just want to get him some good equipment, set it up proper and make him happy! ****NOTE, anything you see here is subject to change as i am totally freestyling this. Trying to just make it work. First i stopped by Arden Audio in Sacramento Ca. They always have what i need in stock over there and if they don't i can get it same or next day. I decided to pick Psyph up a new head unit first and foremost. I also got the dash kit and wiring harness to go with it. Grabbed some SkyHigh 16ga OFC speaker wire to run to the doors. The system will consist of (so far) Pioneer DEH X7800 BHS Head Unit Rockford Fosgate Punch 1000.1 (BASS) Rockford Fosgate Punch 300.2 (Highs) (2) Rockford Fosgate P3 12" subs (ported enclosure) (1) Set Rockford Fosgate T2 6.5" separates SMD Fuse / Grounding Blocks Mechman 1/0 OFC Power Wire Skyhigh 12 and 16ga Speaker Wire I already had a P300.2 but i got him a matching 1000.1 to go with it. These P3 12" subs are not brand new but might as well be. They are in brand new condition! They are my old ones. This box was already finished and just hanging around the shop. I KNOW it sounds good so it should do great in his trunk! The trunk floor is at an angle so i have to make a platform and flatten it out some so the box sits level.

  6. Hey guys, I am new to this forum and would appreciate all the feedback I can get! Decided to go with sundown because of all the positive reviews and great community! Anyways I want to build something that will give me the bump I am looking for in my daily driver. I had 2 15 kicker l7s previously with rated rms. This will be for a 2012 chevy Tahoe with alot of room to work with. After tons of research I have decided I really like the X series. I am thinking about ordering 2 x15's with an either sundown4000.1 or the skar 4500.1 (little cheaper) (student loan life) and building a custom ported box to spec. Now with it tuned correctly and installed correctly, do you guys recommend upgrading electrical for this set up? All feedback is greatly appreciated, and suggestions are welcomed.
  7. Hi all I have just bought two 12 Alpine type r 12d2s 1000 RMS each. I am looking to put them in ported enclosure but need help on what size to use. I'm looking for deep loud and low bass with the best frequency respose possible. I am able to fit a 4 cubic foot box in my trunk after port displacement and sub displacement. Also if I tune to say 32hz will I get enough bass upwards of 45hz or will it start to roll of/ Also what size port should I use I was thinking 3 inch wide 12 high does port size affect frequency response such as making the response shorter or longer. Hope some one can be of assistance
  8. I know that in the description of the sundown x series that they are low frequency drivers and do not expect to have them excel at high frequency bass notes. what is considered high frequency for this sub because everyone has a different definition of what a high frequency bass note is. my crossover is set to 85 hz give or take a few hz. Thanks Greg

  16. I have a 2011 silverado extended cab and I'm either looking in doing two SA 8 v.2 or two SA 10's what do yall think? What amp also would be best for them, Thanks
  17. my system was loud as shit but after a having it for a couple of weeks it just isnt the same but is still loud.. so i gotta ask is it just me or is something wrong? could i be just getting used to it. it happens everytime i upgrade.
  18. The loudest song I have found on the meter is Moan by Lil Wayne Ft. Rick Ross. It was on a decaf zip. Its around .7 db louder then my next closest. I got some new ones I'm going to try at the next comp/test and tune
  19. So here's the deal guys, i've got room for 2 12's (but one higher quality one would be ok) and their corresponding box, the amp, and all the wiring. I need to know for about 1400 bucks what is the best complete setup combo(not powered subs , just individual components) that i can get for loud bass that still adds to sound quality. Anything you got would be fine, just need to know the subs and what to rms power them with all for 1400 bucks
  20. NEW UPDATE 2-13-12!!!!! IF THE THREAD RUNS UNUSED FOR OVER 6 MONTHS IT WILL BE LOCKED. ANY INQUIRIES CAN BE HANDLED BY P.M. TO THE O.P. NEW UPDATE!!! 2-24-09 YOU MUST HAVE 150 POST TO POST AN ITEM FOR SALE (that also means you CANNOT sell items through your sig or in the chat room below 150 posts) I only have a one, the rest is common sense. If your not looking to buy a product that someone has for-sale, Do Not Post in that thread, no matter how much you think someone wants to much money or what not. if you know they are scamming then that's a different story, otherwise Shut up, I'm tired of seeing peeps trying to tell people what is or isn't a good price on something they DON'T OWN. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hate to do this but people aren't understanding common sense. 1. Do NOT post dump. - Post dump is an unnecessary post - All items listed for sale must be listed with a asking price for each item - If you hate the price don't complain about, its up to the OP(original poster) to set his price, other wise PM him/her - If you are not interested in purchasing or are interested but do not have the money to purchase the item at the time you see the thread on that item that is for sale, do NOT post - Posts may be deleted without warning - Report to mod button is there for the sake of reporting the thread, USE IT - Repeat offenders will have a short ban from the forum 2. Do not question the moderators - No need to explain this rule, basically don't argue with them 3. Pictures with your name and date on a piece of paper shown with every item being listed is a MUST - if you have time to post you have time to take pics. if not we aren't interested in your thread here. - We have a moderation staff, we don't need 40 members posting that they need pics/150 post minimum or it will be deleted, it just clutters up threads and we have to delete all the random chatter to keep the threads clean. Anyone caught playing Rent-A-Mod will be sent on a 24 hour vacation. The rules are for everyone's benefit, just read them and abide by them its not hard. 4. References will help your sale 5. Do not bump your thread more than once a day - There is a difference between bumping and updating - A bump is a term used to move your thread to the top of the list - Do not BUMP others threads 8. Do not ask us to delete your for sale thread, they will be here for archive, we however can lock the thread. 7. Respect each other 8. NO FEELERS 9. IF you do no have 150 posts you CANNOT sell period. Nothing in sig either. 10. No links to off site sales other than Hot Deals. If you want to sell it here, make sure the post fits all rules for the appropriate section it is listed in. 11. NO RAFFLES WHAT SO EVER 12. DONT ADVERTISE YOUR ITEMS FOR SALE IN A WANT TO BUY THREAD IF YOU DONT MEET THE CRITERIA The rules are for everyone's benefit, just read them and abide by them its not hard. If you are a Vendor here with your own Section these new rules do not apply to you if your in Roscoe's thread below this of Super sellers these new rules do not apply as well.
  21. Anyone like listening to some good ol' classic rock? post some videos with your favorite classic rock tune playing in your car/truck/house/system! This is the last video of all my stuff in the van, its now in a projector room with 5.2 surround sound (dual 18's on 2 channels L R)
  22. http://m1091.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/thaiboxing101/photobucket-38535-1339303687264.png.html?o=0&newest=1 One of my best buddies. New project coming together slowly. These go under the massive center channel and 10' tall line array mains. He's known for going overboard, but the moment someone says he'll never use what he has to its potential.....they find out he aint skeered! Cool if ya dig it.
  23. I'm very impressed with the quality of the Skar VVX series. I definitely haven't been disappointed. For only two 12s in a Full size SUV there is decent flex and air movement. I have them on just a HiFonics Hfi1000.1 D So they are not getting even the 600RMS each they are recommended. Plus If I'm careful I could probably put 750 to 1000 watts on each sub and they would take it easily. These subs can definitely take a beating and they love hitting nasty lows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzT9-IlwbhY
  24. Anyone in south florida that would be interested in an audio meet up somewhere? Or is there any around?
