does anyone know when a new version of the sundown e-12s are coming out or the sa-12 looking to get some but would wait if a new version is coming soon thanks guys

Ive been looking but havent seen anyone really do (3) v3 z18 subs. i just got 3 of them and have 3 hifonics brutus 2100d and am curious has anyone had experience with these subwoofers? Sundown says 4 ft^3 and that sounds too small. Also, this is my first real system, gathering everything i think i need. Input appreciated.

Hey whats up eveyone I ordered a SA-8 v1.5 last week and I have now found some time to start disassembling it and getting it ready to recone. I will order the recone sometime this week when I get some extra funds. Anyway I have removed the cone off the woofer and now I am trying to remove the spiders. However there is a thick layer of glue over the spider and the screws holding the spider landing in? I think that is what it called. Someone please correct me on that cause I would also like to know the name of it. Here is what I am talking about and does anyone know how I can remove these screws so I can remove the spider and coil? Thank you for any help, -James- 90 replies

Hello everyone- I'm fairly new to here, so.. go easy on me. I'm looking at downgrading my system. (Or upgrading from a sony xplod..) I currently have a 12" Sony Xplod, which sucks horribly. It was free, so I can't complain, and my amp is a Hifonics HFI1500.1d -mono. I'm looking at a few different subs, mostly 8's and 10's. Right now, I'm comparing a few different ones. Rockford P3 - 10" Sundown SA-10" (or two 8") Alpine Type-x - 10" What is everyones thoughts on these listed three, for a beginner audiophile, on a limited budget? -

I'm trying to buy some recones for a pair of SA woofers and I having a lot of trouble getting a hold of Sundown to purchase the recones Does anybody know of a quick way to get a hold of them? I've contacted and talked to a couple SA dealers in DFW area (Texas) and I've sent a couple of emails over a period of about 2 weeks. And I realize there busy but it's just a little frustrating.. -
I'm looking at buying two SA8v1's from a guy off Craigslist and he claims they were blown due to 'clipping'. Does Sundown or somebody else make recone kits for these badass little subs? He wants 70 for each or 120 for both. Good deal bad deal?

Whats up im sure this has been answered before but im thinking of buying 2 sundown sa 12 d4 im getting rid of my memphis m5s for these i want better bass so i recently had a custom box made 4.50 cu ft tuned at 34 htz i see no sense in haveing another box made at 1.75 cu ft per sub so what i want to know is whats the best amp or what are my options to get optimum potential out of them sa 12s with this box note that the subs are going in the trunk of a lincoln town car thanks. note im really not trying to spend 500 on an amp at max maybe 300 350 or lower which is always better trying to run them at 1 ohm note that i dont have a high output alternator yet but will get one soon and im also running a duralast goold battery i already have the big 3 done and 0 gauge running to what ever amp im going to upgrade to right now i have a memphis audio mc1.1100

I finally ordered myself 2 sa12 s ready to see how they sound in my setup. i already have a memphis mclass 1.1100 to push them with, now i need to find a 200+ amp alt for a 2.8l cherolet. Anybody no where to find one? I will recieve them tues or wed from my local dealer he had a 15% off everything so i broke down and dropped the cash. I also have ordered 2 infinity ref 860w for my mid bass, 2 sets of alpine component sets, a pair of kenwood 6x9s and 2 memphis c3 12s. i am putting this all in a 91 isuzu trooper. Hope it fits! lol, back to the point I need to find that alt if anyone has any ideas. -
Just got my 2 Sundown SA-10 D4's in and am trying to figure an aero-ported box design tuned to 33-35hz for a 96' Mustang GT. Available trunk dimensions are 33"w, 20"d and 15"h. Jacob (from Sundown) recommended 1 cu. ft. per chamber but I'm hearing a lot of others having great results with larger enclosures, which leaves me wondering which is best? Also I am unsure if my type of car will affect the tuning of the box therefore leaving me having to tune higher/lower to achieve a true 33-35hz tone? They're going to be powered by a DB Drive 1800 @ 1ohm. It's a daily install hoping to reach a balance of spl and sq. I listen to mostly rock/metal with a little bit of dubstep, rave and rap (if that matters). If your reading this and have box building knowledge, please help me figure this out. I've played around with numbers but can't seem to get it right. Thanks in advance!!!

i have a 97 ford ranger supercab and im looking for a box size that will fit but bring me its max. currently they are in 2 seperate boxes 2 in each looks like a wall and i believe that they are 3.7 cu ft each they are custom made but idk the lows dont sound to good to me maybe more power? -
Hey, im new to car audio, im 18 work for minimum wage. I drive a 95 civic ex, so far i have a false floor in with a hifonics 1500d amp mounted to it with a Sa-12 in a prefab box i got for free. I just purchased a table saw and now have everything i need for box building. I was wondering if anyone had a design for Sa-12 box. preferably 35hz tuned. If anyone could give me dimensions with port/vent included. I was looking at doing an aero port if anyone can include that in a design or dimensions please include where to put the port, how long, diameter etc. Thanks in advance please reply! -
I recently screwed myself out of a deal and need a new amp. I've been looking around and came across the Sundown SAZ-2500D. (I have an Orion HCCA 12). I just wanted to know what the forum thought about this amp on this sub. I bought a nice sub and I don't want a cheap amp that's why I choose Sundown for an amp, I plan to do this the right way.

I'm very impressed with the quality of the Skar VVX series. I definitely haven't been disappointed. For only two 12s in a Full size SUV there is decent flex and air movement. I have them on just a HiFonics Hfi1000.1 D So they are not getting even the 600RMS each they are recommended. Plus If I'm careful I could probably put 750 to 1000 watts on each sub and they would take it easily. I basically just want to know if this design will work for my sub, my only concern is the port area, i know 14in of port per cube foot is ok, but it only has 8.5 in of port area, so comment if its good, or bad. Since im shrinking my box from 10 cubes to 8.5 do i still need both 8 " aero ports I had two 8" aero ports in a box that was 9.83 to 10 cubes net but now im shrinking my box to 8 to 8.5 cubic ft net. Can i get away with only using one 8" aero port. I seen a guy who had a box that was like 9 cubes net with four sundown niteshade 12s on about 8k and it was nasty loud. so im wondering since im going to 8-8.5 roughly on the same power this should work rite???? -
looking to upgrade my battery under hood of a 2005 Elantra anything with at least 110AH and 1000+ CA preferably kinetik or xs power wanna stay under the $250 mark. Thanks

So after getting to play with the Skar Audio VVX subs - http://www.stevemead...-audio-vvx-12s/ we were anxious to try the amps of the same brand.... and here they are, in Russia, posing for a quick photoshoot along with the awesome SMD DD-1 and CC-1 that we got from Steve We already had the VVX12's out of the Audi (and sold actually as quite a few people were very impressed by their abilities) and the Sundown z12v2's with d1 coils in.... so this meant we could take two SK1500.1's and and run them bridged @ 1ohm (0.5 nominal per amp) Gains were set using the SMD DD-1, to ensure that there is no clipping. here's a good vid playing Gucci, moving quite a bit of air and being slightly loud with 148+ @30hz on the meter (I know it's hard to see in the vid) and here's the clamp of the power figures @ 148.4 we got 2930 watts of clean power from two amps with a rise to 2.5ohms and a drop to 11.6v.....this is also after about an hour of testing and playing music on drained batteries...... which is damn good, especially at this low a frequency Overall, the amps are great, very well built, sound extremely plesant and are stable below 1ohm Good job Skar Audio! -

So we've naturally been keeping an eye on Skar Audio over the past year or so due to the questions we get here in Russia from the people that follow our builds....you know, the usual - what do yoy think about Skar subs? when do you think they will be available in Russia? how do they stack up against so and so sub? so we had to get some As most of you already know - the quality and overall fit and finish on these subs is amazing. everything from the full-size dustcap to the magnet boot is just the way it should be So we popped the into the shop's Audi A4 sedan box is just a shade over 4.5 cubes net with a single 8" flared port firing to the side...on paper tunning is 37hz, but it peaks much lower due to the loading effect of the port firing into the fenderwell amp is a Sundown Audio SAZ3500D @ 0.5ohms with two XS Power bats and Shok industries wire....the stock alt in the audi is a dog however, so voltage easily drops below 12 so, on to the scores with the subs fresh out of the package, with no break in we managed a 147.4 @ 30hz this was apparently no sweat for the subs and the were laughing at the power.... which was clamped at 2791 watts on this run with a drop to 11.6 volts and rise to just over 1.1ohms.... very impressive then we tried 30hz and were rewarded with a 148.00 !!! the subs obviously need more break in - we clamped 2640watts this time with 12volts and slightly over 1.2ohms then it was time to let them wang full-tilt ob a pretty rough track full-tilt for 3 minutes on a saz3500@half-ohm metering 146+ the whole time with no hint of coil-smell = win in my book overall - we are really impressed with the subs...they pound the lows, move air and can put up numbers stay tuned for moar vids as i get them uploaded

Ok, so some our Team Sundown guys got their NS-1's and clamped them on a resistor...this basically means there's no rise the resistor pack used for this test is 0.7 ohms Power supply 8 Stinger SP 2150's resting at 12.9v measured 80 volts 114 amps voltage drop 11,8v Power: 9120 watts guys said the amps is a beast in terms of low impedance stability, stayed cool the whole time the vid Effficiency 984 Amps of draw at 11,8 volts 78% efficiency at 0.7 ohms is damn good
