It was time. My '03 GT needed some love (and it still does). When the red top died, I took the opportunity to pull out all the old cabling and re-do it all with our cabling. Now, the car audio world commonly refers to this as "The Big 3" which has been the moniker of such jobs for about the last 10 years. Well, I guess I did my first "Big 3" install in my '84 Mustang in 1990. This Big 3 Install features the JL Audio XB-BTU battery terminals which are obviously super clean. I also used one of the matching JL Audio ANL style fuse holders to protect the 1/0 AWG run to the amplifiers. If you look close, you'll see all kinds of our goodies under the hood. The alternator on the Mustang is a DC Power alternator that I used to develop the installation manual included with DC Power alternators. The Ford 4.6L SOHC isn't really much to look at. This one has a Vortech @ 9psi, a Snow Performance water / methanol injection kit, Bassani long tube headers and full exhaust, fully upgraded ignition system, etc. I've also upgraded the drive train with a Steeda short throw shifter, McLeod clutch, FRPP aluminum drive shaft and 4.10 gears, 31 spline Strange axles, etc. It makes 430 hp at the flywheel. I have a dual audio deck that i guess rms at 18watts. is there any other way than using a DD1 to find the clipping volume. I know how to use a DVM to find the rms on my sub amp abut i wanna get the best volume from the deck first. Secondly. Everything in my jeep is stock except for the deck, mono amp, and subs. .... alt, battery, everything else is stock. im only running 250rms and my lights dimm a little on heavy bass (yes i know its only 250 but it slams for just that) i want to upgrade. 12's down to 10's for more punch but go from 250rms to maybe 500ish to 1000rms (for now). and get a 4 channel for my speakers and get some decent compenents. What are the best things to upgrade on a budget that are necessary for running a god amount of power. Thanks
