  1. As of right now, my system sounds fantastic. Yet I get the feeling I'm not using the amp/speakers to its full potential. If I was dealing with subs, I'd have no issues. This just happens to be the 1st time I've ever dealt with mid's/highs speakers and a non-mono amplifier. Amplifier Hifonics BRX 5000.5 (5 channel amp) Specs: 4 ohm - 60 x 4 +475 2 ohm - 120 x 4 + 750 1 ohm - CH5: 1000 x 1 Mono Bridge @ 4 ohms - 240 x 2 Speakers Dash - Rockford Fosgate P132 (w/bass blockers) - 20w RMS/4 ohms Front - JBL GTO939 - 100w RMS/3 ohms Rear - JBL GX963 - 100w RMS/2.3 ohms Note: The dash speakers are wired to the door speakers (from factory). If I remove one, the other won't work. Subwoofers 2 x DS18 Z10 Elite (DVC/4 ohms/750w RMS ea.) wired @ 1 ohm. Is it possible to use the amps/speakers full potential and push 120 x 4 or 240 x 2? If so, how can this be done (using my current speakers)?
  2. Hello everyone! So heres a quick story on me. I loved this sight when I was 16-18 years old and was on it every single night checking out different builds, and topics just trying to gain as much information as I could. Long story short I went off to college down the road, started studying Mechanical Engineering and running track at the division 1 level and ran out of time for my own builds, and anything fun for that matter. So enough about me, lets get into this build after my hiatus from the sight. My Project is my 1986 SUPRA boat with a ford 351 v8 (just rebuilt the whole motor and is brand spanking new for this year), Thru-Hull exhaust, wakeboard tower, and much more. What I've purchased so far: -4 SKAR 8" IX-8s. I went with a cheap 8" subwoofer that I can replace very cheaply if something were to happen. My overall goal for this boat isn't for it to be "loud" it is for it to sound very very good. -6 JVC 4" 2-way speakers for the wakeboard tower rack. -1 Hifonics 1250d -1 Crunch 1000 watt rms 4-channel Enclosures: (Here is the fun part) -So like I said, Im finishing school in Mechanical Engineering so I wanted to have a little bit of fun with these enclosures. For the Wakeboard tower, I designed something in SolidWorks and sent cut it out on a CNC Router. Everything turned out GREAT with how everything fit together, and the MDF just looks so clean (even though thats the only wood I could use anyways). Then I will be wrapping and fiberglassing the tower rack in its entirety. Please don't judge, for this is my first real experience with fiberglassing and did it as simple and cheap as possible, its also still in progress. -For the subwoofers, I'm still in the process of deciding exactly what is to be done there and might even re-do the mounts for all the rear seats of the boat because in my opinion there is a ton of wasted space that isn't necessary, so any input (if allowed) on that is appreciated. -Ideas, ported enclosures at around 40hz. My last boat I did 2-12s down firing ported at 38 and it sounded GREAT! Only problem here is they wont be down firing... Ill attach some pictures, and ENJOY! Any input is appreciated on things to help me, so please give feedback if allowed. Im not very good with the rules of whats allowed and what isn't. Thanks! This is the one area where Im going to put 2 of the 8's up front, and in the rear Im going to have 2 more 8's each in individual boxes, ported. Andddddd of course I had to give her a name!
  3. Anyone able to identify the brand of this subwoofer? Cone cap on it and I have no idea. Guy said it was a 4000w. Another buddy said that he thought he knew but wasn't sure. The 2400.1 d Zues bangs the shit outta it but my question is before I upgrade to a bigger amp I would like to know exactly what its rated at. It bangs in my mountianeer! I'm wanting to get at least 1 more them or 3. Gotta start somewhere aye.
  4. Hey all, long time no see. I’m having an issue with a Hifonics BRX 2000.1D, 06 so it’s CEA compliant. I had this amp running in my truck for about four months all fine and dandy. Recently the subs had stopped working then would work again later on after the truck had been restarted. It did this for about a week until it stopped emitting sound all together. I spent quit some time requiring and Metering all connections. All wiring was looking fine, subs are two Alpine type S D4 wired down to 1, gain was always less than half. Tested the RCAS with an rca/aux adapter and speaker which worked and I was able to get sound from the small speaker I had hooked up. After hours of messing and entering everything I remembered I had another amp laying around the shop so I swapped it out and wahla, everything worked fine again. I’ve since switched with another amp and same thing everything works fine. I decided to open the board up, no burning on anything that I could see. I couldn’t seem to really spot any loose soldered joints and I never metered anything on the circuit board yet since this would be the first time doing so. I was thinking maybe the inputs could be bad but I’m not too familiar with internal repairs. The amp will turn on and light will be green (no protect light) but doesn’t output. I’m currently away from home for a few days so I won’t be able to get any readings for anyone to help out as of now. Curious to see if anyone else has had this issue on their board being as I can mostly only find this type of problem with some sort of electrical issue with voltage and improper ground. Thanks in advance for any advice, hopefully I can save a bit of $ by repairing this amp! (p.s I could probably have someone send me internall pictures later on!)
  5. My last system consisted of two Rockford p3 12s, a hifonics BRZ 1200 amp, and an obcon prefab box. They killed it in my Dodge Durango, sounded amazing. But after I sold that and bought a Honda Civic, I put them in there and I noticed the lower end of my bass sounded airy and was extremely quiet. What factors should I be looking at to fix this problem? New box? Tuning issue? Or does my car just not have enough airspace?

  7. This will be my first post here on the site. Im currently running the American bass xfl 12" subs in a q bomb pro box off a hifonics brz 2400.1 with a red top under the hood in a 95 Avalon. So I need help designing a box where my subs face the rear but my port is facing the cab. I want the port in the center bc I want it blowing through the "arm rest hole" of the back seat. I will be posting a few drawing of what I have drawn up. no measurements yet, just ideas im playing with. This box I've designed is an L shaped ported box with the port in the back. what do you guys think??? will it work?? *******The blue represents the air flow. I also drew braces in the back....

  9. (Sorry if bad english) Hi, I currently have a Hifonics BRX2416.1D (which delivers 1600w at 2 ohms) for my Sundown X12 V.2 (1500W, dual coil). The sub is 4ohm and wired at 2ohm, so it takes about 1600W. I want to buy another X12 V.2 D4, and a BRX3016.1d (which delivers 2000w at 2 ohms) to have a good amount of power and to wire the two amps as slave / master. But I really don't know : - Is it possible to wire two different amps as slave master? (like the 2416.1d and 3016.1d) - What will be the impedence if I put my two subs in parallel or series? - How many watts will each subs recieve? - If I manage to get about 2000w for each sub, will they take it or will they break? (I heard that sundown subs are underrated by the manufacturer) Thanks !
  10. ok so on my quest to find a better amp than the one I have now ( alpine mrx-m100 600 @4, 1000 @2, 600 @1 that's straight out the manual) ive came acros an older alpine mrv1507 the alpine mrv 1507 is near 18 or so inches long and it is a 2 chl amp heres the spec form user manual 12v 20-20khz per chl 4 ohm - 150w 0.08% thd per chl 2 ohm - 300w 0.3% thd bridged 4ohm - 600w 0.3% thd 14.4v 20-20khz per chl 4 ohm - 225w 0.08% thd per chl 2 ohm - 450w 0.3% thd bridged 4 ohm - 900w 0.3% thd ive done some of my own research and everywhere I found says the amp is under rated but how far? and does anything it will handle 2 ohm bridged daily? ( I never drive far or bump to long so about maybe 10 or 15 min runs ) ohh asking price for it is 200 bucks
  11. does anyone have any ideas about these amps? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_32980_Hifonics-Boltar.html I have 4 massive audio m12s and need a 2 channel amp to power them.

  13. The 2017 HiFonics Brutus BRX3016.1D has a spec of 3000 watts at 1 ohm, but no mention of this being an RMS, MAX or Peak rating. We know many of you out there are interested to know as well, so BigD coughed up $260 to buy one of these amps to test for you guys. Make sure you watch all the way until the end...there are quite a few extra tests after the credits, including some very surprising results! Please like, comment and share this video! 17. Hello, I am looking to get a pair of XFL 1244 to start a new system in my car. I would like to build a ported box. What would be a good box design for these subs? Also for the amp i was looking at Hifonics BRX 2400.1d however i am open to suggestions for a better amp under $400. I already plan on doing a big three upgrade, but will i need to upgrade my alternator? Thank you
  18. Little video off my 2 JBL Mkii 12GTI + Hifonics 1700D after set gains with dd1.
  19. Alright so I couldn't help but notice that my prefab box was peaking to much and bottoming out. Then I took measurements and discovered that it was tuned to 41hz. I messed around with the hz value in the bcae1.com box calculator and noticed that the only thing that really changed was the length of the port. Then I went to lowes and got some mdf. I cut 3 5x12 and 4 5/8 x 12 pieces and glued them right to the 5x5 square port. Presto! the port is now 27 inches long and the box is now at 32 hz. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRtLPmgzWWQ What about you guys? Anyone else do any homemade mods to achieve that sound?
  20. Going to be picking up a 2015 Honda Accord Sport. I already have my mind set on upgrading all speakers to polk with a 600w hifonics amp. My question is, Will the LC7i work in my application? I will also be adding a 1200 hifonics brutus and one 12in FI BL subwoofer in custom enclosure a bit after. If i go with the LC7i, what is the best way to wire it? Seems like i can't find any good diagrams on the net. I appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
  21. So I recently build a box and installed my two Sundown X15's D4 wires to 1oh with a Hifonics 3200 watt amp pushing them. The box was designed by caraudiofab it is 8.5 cubes tuned to 32hz the port is currently facing the read barn doors in my Escalade. The setup isn't really pushing much air which I'm kind of depressed about. I am looking at options to move more air!! I was thinking of turning this box around so the port is facing the front of the car? Right now the port is about 8 inches away from the back doors which I don't feel like it is enough room? This is my first build and I don't have any friends that do this so I'm just guessing at this point. I did have my system tuned at a local car audio shop which helped quite a bit but I'm still not super impressed with the SPL. This is the Box I am using below. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Hey guys! So I've been busy shopping some batteries and cables for my setup, so when the car is not running I'd be still capable of powering my setup fine. I bought some KnuKonceptz OFC 1/0 gauge wire, and ended up with two AGM batteries that I purchased used, but still in fine condition. (one 95 AH , and one 105AH) In order to get the max out of them I strapped the two together in hopes to get the sweet 200AH I was looking for based on this online calculator: https://www.batterystuff.com/kb/tools/calculator-sizing-a-battery-to-a-load.html When I set everything up, and tuned the amp, there came the big moment, to clamp test everything. I was suprised, but I only got around 800 RMS, on test tone. As far as amps go I got myself a Hifonics Brutus BRX 2016.1D, and a pair of Rockford Fosgate P3 D4 subs. The reason why I wrote down everything this meticulously, is because I wold like to know what could went wrong with my little test. According to my calculations I shold easily get 1000 RMS, with this particular choice of equipment. The batteries are capable of producing this kind of power, the wiring is overkill for 1k I think, the amp is rated at 2kw and even if half is true it is still 1kw, the subs are CEA-2031 rated and knowing Fosgate they are up to the task, I got the 200A fuse as recomended by the manual of the sub, so I don't know what could cause this power drop. What do you guys think can be the cause of the problem? Any thoughts wold be useful! ??
  23. I got this 15in sub in a tuned 32hz box, 2400.1 D hifonics zues amp and tons of extra 0ga wiring for a trade. its been custom capped and even dude i got it from had no idea. so I'm wanting to check the specs on it so i know what it can do without smoking it. it laughs at the 2400.1 and it has more to offer im sure. i have a hifonics brutus 3016.1 D at my fingers so i wanna find out what i can. any help would be great.
  24. Ok guys so I am new to car audio and I am the type of guy who likes to plan ahead. I am looking to get a soundqubed hds215 D4 along with a hifonics BRX1516.1D sometime next spring. I am looking to do the install myself and I would also like to build my own box so if anyone could give me some box dimensions for the hds215 that would be amazing.
  25.
