  1. i have 2 sundown sa12s in a L-ported box that i made and its tuned to 29hz and about 4.4cubes before sub displacement. it has 45 in all corners. It moves a decent amount of air.. but i think it could move alot more. ive seen people with trunk cars move more air with the same subs. im looking for ideas on a new box, even though i just build this one i still want a better one, and im thinking of using an aero port(s) instead of an L-port design since ive been researching some and that seems to be the way to go. My current setup is Subs up port up but i was thinking of doing Subs up port(s) forward and im also looking to keep the same tuning of 29 hz seeing as it seems to do good in my truck. btw i have an extended cab truck. Would that be the best setup for moving air? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. haha
  2. Hey fellas got another question for ya. Well im gonna start building the wall soon and im thinking about tuning it to 25hz or so. Im not really looking for a SPL setup, just a ground pounder. I like songs like stickem and rack city. You know, those really low notes that bring a smile to your face. So at 25hz tuning on a wall, that should be good for lows correct? I was thinking 30hz but i saw a wall tuned to mid 20's and the lows were just insane! Heres subs and amps. 3 AQ3500's 3 AQ HDC4 18's Box should be around 17 cubic feet or so before bracing and subwoofer displacement. Does this sound good or should i tune it higher? Remember, i want a ground pounder, not a SPL setup.
  3. i have a box made for my full size blazer with 4 pa mojo 15s 38wx32dx20h and i want to tune it to 35hz. can someone please help me figure out what size my port should be?
  4. How much of a difference would it be tuning a box to 27hz rather than 34hz for 2 kenwood subs rated to 34hz?
  5. hi... my name is tommy, i'm from germany and i'm 24years old. now i wanna show my car and my build... 6. Hi, I recently purchased and installed my first sub system: Kenwood 9105D Mono-Amp @ 1800w max / 900 rms(2ohm) Dual Kenwood 12" w3013ps subs (bridged @ 2 ohms, 450rms per sub(400rms-1200w peak)) w/ 34-300 freq. response, recommended ported enclosure @ 2 cft tuned to 34hz 4 Gage power wires, 12 gage speaker wire, gold plated terminals etc Got most of it on sale, cost about $350 for everything from sonic electronix and crutchfield. The subs are in a Sound Ordnance dual 12 inch ported enclosure @ 1.63 cft per chamber, tuned at 33hz The subs sound too high pitched of bass, it's LOUD and shakes most of the car, it just doesn't sound quite right, I believe it has to do with the enclosure size and bad box tuning but I wanted to make sure, that's why I'm asking here. So my question is this, is the bass problem the size of the box, the tuning, or the high freq. response of the subs? or a mix of some of these. Right now the subs don't play below 40hz very well which I'm sure is because of the tuning and size of the box. I'm more than willing to build a box for these but I'm not sure if it's worth it if the subs still wont touch anything below 34hz, I see a lot of people here with boxes tuned to 30hz or less and I'm wondering if I should tune that low even though my response is only 34hz. Should I just buy new subs? Most of my music doesn't hit lower than 34hz but still, I want some ground pouding bass every once in a while, can't really afford anything much bigger right now with my financial situation. Any info would be helpful I'm just looking to soak up some data since I'm a beginner, a lot of the topics here are very helpful. Thanks!
  7. i have a 92 full size blazer. 4 pa mofo 15's on a hifonic bre2500d. i want something that can pull great numbers and if possible do hair tricks. the dimensions i have to work with is 48wX27hX32front to back. not sure what box design would be best for a suv like this? new in the spl game and looking for someone to help out.
  8. Please help me. Here’s my situation. So for my equipment, I’ve got a Pioneer KEH P88 as my head unit and a Pioneer DEQ P99 as my dsp. Yes I know they’re old but I like the look and the reverb effects of the dsp. I wont bother going into my mids in highs since all that is running flawlessly. For my lows, I’ve got a Deafbonce Apocalypse 4900.1. I have a 370a Alt with a D3100 and big 3 0 gauge. Also, since I like playing my music with reverb effects, those effects transfer over to the subwoofer output which make the sun play weird so I have the subs directly to my head unit. I am running a Q power 10” for testing before I throw in my sundowns. I also have an audio control epicenter installed. So I tuned my amp with a DD1+ and matched the voltage required for my q power wattage. I ser my Gain knob to 100% and set my epicenter knob to 0%. I played a 40hz at my headunits max volume before Clíp and tuned my amp. So I go to play rap music or any other music that already has bass where I don’t need the epicenter and I max my gain knob and everything works perfectly fine. Then I play a song with minimal bass and I go to turn the epicenter and don’t even get 1/4 of the way with the knob it sends my amp into protect mode and also I notice some serious voltage drop down to 10.4v. Keep in mind I was playing the amp at full tilt before I used the epicenter and it would be at a steady 14.6v. After that happened, I decided to not use the epicenter and have it at 0 and I played my bass full tilt and about 5 minutes later, it goes into protect. So here’s me theory. As far as the epicenter killing my amp, I believe I need to open it up and lower the voltage to 2v. As far as my amp turning off without the epicenter, I think it’s just maybe my old head unit, since it’s from the 1980s. Can anyone suggest what may be wrong with my system? Thanks in advance
  9. Being new to car audio, i don't understand what "gain overlap" really means, -10db, -5db, 0db ? What is the best way to tune my system with my DD-1? And what settings should i set all my dials in the amp? This is my first time using this and I don't want to misunderstand steps from the manual. 2sundowns U12 D4 wired at 1ohm Skar rp4500 amp LC2I ACR1 (bass knob) for LC2I
  10. Ok so i have seen many different answers on this and I am wondering on what is the correct answer. so my head unit is a pioneer FHX-520ui now on the head unit there is a bass Level, not bass boost but bass level it goes from -24 to + 6 its default setting is 0 when i am DD-1 tuning my set up should i set this at 0 or+ 6 or somewhere in between, i'm assuming this is Gain from the rca outputs, and if it does not matter what are the beniffits of tuning at 0 or +6 i just want to tune it for the best possible output, what i am currently running is in my signature as well, I also plan on upgrading to an AVH deck with 4v pream outputs because i feel like i can get better bass response out of these subs.
  11. Hello everyone im new to the forums just made an account today but I've always looked for info on here just finally made an account. I recently ordered my dd1 recently and finally got it home today. Ive always had friends tune my amps in the past but this time I wanted to give it a try myself. My amps are autotek sm4 1000.4 and autotek MM2500.1 if yall needed to know. When I go and set my gains up on the amps im not sure what to turn up and down. I have went through all the topics and couldn't really understand much so that's why im asking. 4 multi amp it says put in full and db at 0 but for the LPF and HPF do I just crank both all the way or leave it alone? Because it says turn frequency all the way up. Im new to tuning so I am unsure on what to turn up or down on HPF and LPF. Mono 0db subsonic, level, bass nob, and LPF so do I put the bass nob all the way up and crank the subsonic and LPF all the way before I do the ggains? Im not too sure on subsonic and LPF If yall can help guide me through this that would be wonderful and any information is appreciated thankyou everyone!
