I got pulled over around 8:30pm (night), in the rain, on a side street for "illegal window tint". The Cleveland police officer told me that window tint is not allowed on the back window either. It looks like the Ohio code was changed in March of 2013. There are no % measurements anymore it is purely the officers "normal viewing" that decides. 4513.241 Using tinted glass and other vision obscuring materials.(A) The director of public safety, [<- who is this?] in accordance with Chapter 119. of the Revised Code, shall adopt rules governing the use of tinted glass, and the use of transparent, nontransparent, translucent, and reflectorized materials in or on motor vehicle windshields, side windows, sidewings, and rear windows that prevent a person of normal vision looking into the motor vehicle from seeing or identifying persons or objects inside the motor vehicle. http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4513.241 The rest of the code is all about who can use tint. I bought my Mustang already tinted from a used car dealer about 9 months ago. 4 months ago, I was charged with a misdemeanor (no traffic court) for loud music and had to go to court The cops from that incident DID NOT say ANYTHING about my tint. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/174842-loud-music-is-now-an-arrestable-misdemeanor-no-traffic-court-at-all/ When I bought the car, I took it to the Cuyahoga county sheriffs and 5th district Cleveland police and was told the tint was fine. I have friends who have had 20% tint done and mine looks the same I think. I am thinking of going to the Ohio highway patrol, having them test and confirm my tint as being legal in writing then give that evidence to the judge. I called them and they said they would do that, but that is a lonngg drive for me to W.140th. I am also looking into getting a tint perscription from my doctor too From what I have heard from friends of friends who live in Cleveland they say only factory installed tint is allowed now. And that judges rule guilty on any attempts to prove a legal tint % was used. Dear Cleveland, Getting real tired of your shit. kthxbai. It reads: "Unable to see into vehicle all windows" Which is pretty much lies because I only have a tint strip at the top of my windshield the rest is clear. Ticket is $198 with court costs. That is my second skin savings I will be dipping into again ffs. I really would not mind getting my tint removed and a lighter tint installed, except for the $ part. Any of you legal majors chiming in would be great or anyone else with an experience or advice.
