So I've been doing alot of thinking, lately, and I think I've finally come to the conclusion I want to upgrade my old Cadence system. I've been looking at (And drooling over) the DC level fours and XL's. I think I want a single 10" XL or Level Four. The only thing I'm wondering about is what would be the best amplifier (For the price) to power either sufficiently? I won't ever really be doing burps. Just music. (Live in a small town up in North Dakota. The comps here rarely do burps.) So I don't need an amp that's going to throw 10,000rms at it for a burp. Just one that's going to make it pound like a beast daily. Thanks in advance!

Well with either the Level 4 or the XL you could run an AQ2200 and be feeding them very well.

No, I wouldn't say. Electrical upgrades? Enclosure?

Honestly I would just get the level 4 on an AQ1200 and be conservative.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Have big 3 done. Enclosure I will be custom fabbing for the sub (Have a 15" ported now). Getting at least 2 Kinetik KHC1800s for the rear and a 1400 up front regardless of what I get. Will get more if needed. I want a big, bad sub that comes in a small package. Just wondering what amp would be best for the XL. As well as any other necessary upgrades I must do, I will do.

XLs are very nice. i had a 15" level4 then upgraded to the XL 15". how much cash are you willin to put up, thats a better ??. many dif options but depends on what you want to spend.

I'm willing to spend what I have to for the amp. Money isn't a huge issue. I've got all the gear I really need, it's just a matter of swapping out the sub, fabbing a new enclosure, and finding what amp to purchase. Kind of curious what amp people have been running them on. I hear some people pushing as much as 2x the rated power to the sub, whereas others run it below rms.

Once again, going to depend on power, electrical, and enclosure. Saying you're fabbing the enclosure provides 0 factual information to decide whether going over RMS would be smart for you.

Of course the subs are underrated, but if you're not experienced to know when a driver is being pushed past mechanical and thermal abilities, you really should stay with the RMS.

AQ1200 or the AQ2200

AQ on good electrical. It will take every bit of that power in the correct enclosure.

Id even swing to say you get the DC 3.5k and be easy on the settings. <--- thats just me though, much rather over power then under power.
