DC Level 4 with Level 5 upgrade in sealed enclosure?

Recommended Posts

Going to be ordering a DC level 4 with Level 5 upgrades and put it in a sealed enclosure. I don;t have any other option besides sealed because I need as much space as possible. The box I will be putting it in is a custom fiberglass box that will fot in my factory sub location. The box is ~1.2 Ft ^ 3 before displacement. I have up to 1500w and want to get loud while remaining some sq, not much but some.

Has anyone ran one of these subs sealed or heard one sealed?

If so how did it sound and perform?

Please chime in with any other info you think I should know!

Maybe someone knows more than me, but the main reason to run 5 upgrade is to handle more power. The lvl 4 will handle that 1500 with ease.

ehh kinda, depends on the set up and knowledge of the user. What size lvl 4 are you using? a 10?

It would be a 12" powered by a AP15001D. Gains set with a DMM not by ear.

you would be ok with 1.5k. especially if it has the lvl 5 upgrade. should be fine sealed too.

i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer.

I just honestly see the point of buying highish end, non sq subs and putting them in sealed boxes...and yes I know there are loud setups that are sealed..but 1 12" off 1500 isn't going to be one..

All I'm saying is that with what he has I think he'd be happier with a well designed ported box..or even a 4th order..

Get a stock lvl 4. What size? 10, 12? Just make sure the enclosure is in DCs specs on their site for sealed enclosure. The lvl 4 IS safe to run sealed. And on the amp you have honestly make the box to the bigger of what DC recommends for it.

I would love to have a nice ported enclosure but its not an option right now. Maybe later down the road if I get a pick up but rught now I haul a lot of tools and other stuff in my car so I need all the room I can get. I know it's not the right application, but I am trying to get as loud as possible with what I have to work with. Any other recommendations?

If loud is what I'm going after wouldn't it be better to buy big even if it isn't being used to its potential than to buy okay? At least if I made this purchase and didn't get the fullest out of it, I would still have it for the future instead of being stuck with mediocre.

Also, I currently have a 12" IA Flatlyne that is still in perfect shape. I just wanted to give DC a try. I have heard nothing but good from them.
