Come on beanz.....we dont think....

We are all cattle being led to the grassy field.

We all know the user burnt the sub.

Very simple to see that.

The rest is icing

What i wanna know is if he bought this sub NEW or used...that has never been asked in this thread i think...if he bought it used, what if someone did a recone on it and didnt do a good job on the leads...anyone think of that?

I bought it USED from a local kid, I seen his install and heard it last fall. My posting this was NOT to start a war just curious about what happened. At the end of the day it doesn't matter, My shit is still junk and I have to re-cone it or start another build. It is what it is. I was only curious because the coils look PERFECT and 3 of the 4 tinsel groups are perfect.... This sub was NOT reconed....

lower tuning is just hard. I was surprised how loud 145 sounds at 35hz, and how quiet 145 sounds at 50hz.

yeah,,,but still maybe give the guy benefit of the doubt??? Either way he has to get a new recone on the damn thing... shit happens

That's why they don't deliver.

Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait.

You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start :D

Im not trying to argue with you BUT why is it only ONE tinsel group burnt? why is the coils perfect? No signs of any thermal damage. IF I "burnt" it shouldn't there be some other damage too? really looks like the tinsel just frayed or broke...

now im no expert, im actually somewhat of a noob, but ive been following this thread, and personally when it comes to most advice about anything in life, ima listen to the person who has the resume to back it up.

seems like VOPAs only motivation in this thread is to discredit someone elses company and hard work. Hop off FI/AA's dick

Overexcursion weather it be from "rocking" or playing below tuning, or clipping the output.

1 tinsel snapped and then from it dancing around slappin and caught fire.

Ive had it happen to dc's before.

Okay. I did have my subsonic set to on @ 28Hz, but I guess that could have happened. So NEXT question is, PSI or FI for my re-cone? I DO NOT want another fire that shit scared the hell out of me :(. is it possible for a re-cone from PSI to increase output? My trunk wont really allow a much larger box.

Sooo...the "micro super magnetic ultra sonic flux capacitor theory" isn't true??? I'm so lost, Fellas. I also would like to know why these hotdogs come in 10 packs, yet every bag of buns only has 8. I'm sick of buying 5 packages of buns just to have an even amount of each. I think the OP would really like to know what happened for the sole purpose of preventing this from happening again. Jokes aside, I've seen this system. Charging system is good, gain set with O-Scope, nothing stands out that screams user error. I'm not saying it wasn't preventable, but this isn't a guy who mistakes the gain as a volume knob. Sometimes science doesn't offer a real answer that can rival the simple reality that shit happens. It's not like this is his 2nd or 3rd BTL that failed. If it was I would start pointing fingers. Jumping to conclusions that HE broke it is no help.

My vote sits squarely on overexcursion (or more technically spider/coil joint failure). He mentioned he bought it used. Could be the previous owner beat on it a bit. Could be even with subsonic set "correctly" it still allowed wear and tear.

Since only one tinsel group went out it only lends more evidence since if inductive heating were the issue the rest of the tinsel leads would show burning marks as well. Wear from excursion could only affect one tinsel group easily, hence earlier reports in the thread where similar issues were reported to have happened before. Doesnt mean there's an issue, just means there's a failure rate like everything else.

MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..."

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.
