4ohm to 1ohm wiring help

Recommended Posts

I have a quick question hopefully someone can help me out. I have 2 15s at 750RMS running at 2 ohms right now, would it be a bad idea to run my subs at 1ohm even though they say to run them either at 4 or 2ohms. Btw the brand is Diamond Audio and both Dual Voice coil. Sorry for the noob question.

Thanks

What impediance are your subs?

what happens when your CD player skips and you accidentally drop a 22 hz sine bomb at an unholy volume on 7-8 year old subs? Mechanical failure floppy sub knockage on at least 2.

well...as i see the level 6 is compared to a lamborghini.....but a corvette?

i was thinking more like a chevy volt. its cute and new and "hip", but i would just rather stick my dick in a blender.........

If you have two D4s, you're not running them at 2 ohms now. It's either 4 or 1. Unless you're running two amps.

All parallel=1 ohm, series/parallel=4 ohms.

Look at the12volt.com like already suggested

Edit-well, I thought it was already suggested lol. Maybe that was a different thread. Anyways, the12volt.com has wiring diagrams.

What amp are you running to the subs?

Just ordered a Soundstream TX1.1300D so they will be powered by that.

Yeah you can run it at 1 Ohm. Just to be sure, Watch your voltage to make sure it doesnt drop low, and set your gain's right so you don't clip and blow your subs.

Here's how you would wire it. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=2&I=42#results
