Just get a basic Idea of what you want and your dimensions and ask for help around here. Worked for me man.

I paid for one of his designs for a pair of DD 9515s. It takes a while to get the plans. He communicated with me very professionally and the design worked. I don't have any sophisticated measuring equipment to tell you what the frequency response turned out looking like in real life, I can say it sounds very well with all types of music. Any body can model a tuned box, but how it will respond in a vehicle is another story. Manufactures have good recommendations. If you are looking to experiment start off by building a box to their specs and note the pros and cons. That way you'll have a good idea of what you are looking for if you do decide to pay for a design. Good luck with witch ever route you go. :drinks:

i would never waste 50 bucks on a design. There are many better designers out there. and they do it for much less if anything at all.

lol...you could get help for free from experienced box builders here. Dont know why people need to buy designs and shit.

Somehow I feel like I am taking advantage of people if I am having them design me an enclosure "for" my vehicle (he takes vehicle specs and models it) and pay them nothing for their time. I designed my own box at first, and I know how to design a basic enclosure, but I don't know how to model it in the vehicle with resonant frequencies, proper listening angles, etc etc. I just wanted to see if that fee was in line with other designers and see if the difference would be big enough to warrant spending the money.

Thank you guys for your opinions so far, I appreciate it all!

It's not the designs you're paying for, you're paying for experience and expertise. Those who devote their time and make this sport their livelihood hone their skills much like a painter does his, or a carpenter, or a welder, deserve to be compensated for their knowledge.

Yes, there are those who do good work for free, but you can also pay and get great work. It's really up to the user really....$50 for a top notch design is a cheap price in the long run.

That being said, he knows his stuff. He's opinionated (not necessarily a negative). And the designs from him I built were hit and miss. They sound great, but don't always perform.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
