omegagamer2
Okay, I just sat in my buddies car and heard his Phoenix Gold 12". Apparently it can take almost 1500 peak watts, but my friend only had a 500 watt amp for it. It baaangs for 45hz-60hz. The enclosure looked about 1.2 cu ft. So my question is, I'm kind of a newbie, do all subs really only hit the higher notes better? I have a Logitech z-2300 which is a piddly 8 inch 120 watt driver but it's decent enough. One thing I noticed though in his car was that within the 29-36 hz range it was only about twice as loud as my subwoofer. The song that hits the hardest on his sub is the 51hz note in Welcome to City by Drumsquad. Is there any subwoofer that is very high quality and hits hard in the lows, mids and highs? What about speakers and tweeters? I read that these are just as important. I want to hear everything in the song, blaring lows and highs, and I actually want to understand the lyrics which I couldn't in my friends' car. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=293-666 I was looking at that one, but I think 1 grand for a sub alone is too much. Is there....something like that I could buy under 1 grand for enclosure+sub? I don't even think I could fit 1 18 in the back of my civic coupe. This isn't even including tweeters or speakers. Also, I love the lows at my house, but the highs feel much better and I thought I'd hate them. Makes your chest and everything around you vibrate. Is there a way to make the lows sound like a huge earthquake? I'm talking songs like Soul Survivor and White Girl. Sorry if I sound stupid! I just don't know where to start so I figured I'd drop by here!
That1Kid
You don't need to spend $1000 on a sub. What amp/power are you looking at using? omegagamer2
No worries! I read the post. I thought SQ was sound quality? That's why I was looking at that TC subwoofer. Apparently it can go pretty loud and low/high without any distortion and clarity, with the bonus of being loud. I guess I want clear and loud. I couldn't understand shit all in my friend's car. How much space am I willing to sacrifice? All of it. My civic coupe is only driven by me. The rear trunk might as well completely get used up. As for the amp, anything you guys would reccomend. Please post links and what not. What about for enclosures and setting up the systems? Should I just cave in and get geek squad to do it (oh god I hope I don't regret typing that!)? I'm more of a software guy. Can't do shit with my hands.
