just got back from show today, did a 144 in the kick and powerbass 3k clamped at 3300 rms at 1.8 ohms after rise, that blows my mind. The bo is a little bigger than 3 cubes at 38 hertz and that bastard only doing a 144. Have 2 level 4 12's, in a 1999 passat, huge trunk and lots of room to work with, the car does not like trunk walls, it likes subs back/up port bacl, I need help on ideal box for loud daily driver on that power

thanks

greg

Make your box very similar to mine use at least 3-4 cu allowable, instead of using one large areo port use two 6" areo ports, place them externally all the way to the entrance of your trunk, for daily driving just plug up one of your 6" inch areo ports. you might not be able to stack port one on top of the other so just diagonally install them and place 12's on opposite sides ;)

Have you tried my idea with them batts yet? Its been 3 days now... <_<

im upset with my power output vs the score, guy has 2 15s clamping at 1000 watts doing a 153, on 3300rms i should be doing a 148 out of the trunk easy

Utilizing the trunk as the encloser is crucial, make sure the inside trunk panels are braced off using MDF etc ,I foamed insides ,then paneled them off with mdf and then dynomated over. I see many trunk competitors build nice strong good enclosers but their designs is only as good as strength and solidarity of the actual trunk! another way of explaining it is....you don't build a skyscraper on quicksand. Foundation is the most important thing in anything. If trunk Lid,sides and panels are not strong, then rear firing box encloser means nothing, here's a few examples of how I strengthened my trunk and I actually tested a rear firing prefab box that did 150+ NOTE: Make sure you rear light panels, vents are sealed from leaking air!

You don't have to necessarily make your trunk ugly like mine but it can still be braced with wood with carpet in etc , just make the design and see what happens

I'm gonna take the high road on this. The op didn't start this thread to listen to you bash on me.

I'm truly at a loss as to why you feel you have to drag my name everywhere you go. I did nothing but spend countless hrs. Standing in the rain, snow etc.. giving you free meter time and countless hrs on the phone answering tech questions etc. You have always been a hard head who believes that no matter what folks tell you they must be wrong because you believe yadayada.

I wish you the best in your endeavors.

Instead of doing this on the internet why don't you give me a call and we can hash it out. Number is the same.

ITS THE SA BRAIN WASHING

everyone should leave this thread.

Good info from Terry.I got a friend right now thats disappointed because he only hit a 140 on the dash with his 2 Kicker L7's on a Kicker 2500.He has a 2005 Monte Carlo with subs up port forward.I think I'm going to take this info terry just gave out about bracing the trunk area and see if he can get an increase.Since we got Terry in here answering questions would you say that the Aero ports for that setup would provide the best output?

Areoports provide the best spl output, prefab or custom made.

Trunks lose sooo much pressure and the sound cancels itself out, i did a 46 on music with a box tuned to 32 with 4.4k on one 15 with port and subs back. Theres only so much you can do out of a trunk unless you turn the box around and seal it off, which in my case wouldnt work because i have a giant ass gastank between. Thats why i have a wall now lol.

Thats what I thought about those Aero ports because over here in Italy the Italians run them on their setups with 12's. Now they only use hatchbacks over here for SPL so they get pretty loud with smaller systems.I been running trunk systems for a long time now and my Avy build that I'm doing now will probably be my first that wont be a trunk build.
