The Big Oki
I always have more ideas to build things. And most of these ideas are really old in my head. But it never happened that I was able to realize ALL of them. But I am coming closer and closer with each car I do, hehehe. And it doesnt depend on the used equipment or reached SPL peak! In my mind, the way is the goal and it would be not soo satisfying for me, if I reach my goal one day, and have nothing to do anymore LOL. Üüüühh!!! Michael www.SQPL.de Rulez! The Big Oki
Well, Id say YES basically... (Not exactly yes on the percentages ) But Id rather play with Top Notch Equipment in a Top Notch Install LOL If people just compare pure dBs, you coud get the impression that my new car, the TÜRANN, with all its hi end stuff is a total waste of money and time. I mean at the moment its a 130 000 Euro Install (all in all with car and MSRPs), soon if I update my amps to 19 9.0s it will be about 30 000 Euro more, thats a solid 160 000 Euro (210 000 USD) thing if somebody wants it 1:1 copied. On the other hand you see my Ü2X Sony Install with the pentagon Amps and the cheap subs and all that C-Plod Stuff (but big DVD Navi ) what has a MSRP of maybe about 10 000 Euro, Install AND car maybe 12 000 Euro. XPlod did 155,3 dB and played ABSOLUTELY reliable, did Hairtricks, sounded GREAT. TÜRANN did 157,5 with over 100K Euro more! (now it does 158,5 with just 9000 Watts so far). Who knows what he will do with 4-5 times more power, if it ever happens. People would laugh without knowing the backgrounds or the different quality of the systems and their abilities. I have to deal with that, but I deal with it with a big smile on my face Bc I know why. And believe me, I did (7 years ago and longer) more dbs with way less money in my cars than in my TÜRANN. But no car is compareable so far when it comes to given aspects... Quintessence: You can be happy and successful without spending a fortune of money. (Just the time and the know how is always important!) But you can be happy if you know the quality about your system, even if others try to compare you with apples and pears... Also its always a challenge to use cheaper equipment to do impressive cars! Maybe next car will be such a thing again, like the XPlod project, and after that, something "really expensive" and huuuuge LOL "THE BIG BANG" Üüüühh!!! Michael www.SQPL.de Rulez! CaptainPooPyPantz
sony hair tricks?? i never thought i'd see that. bad ass Still hear people talking bad about the Sonys. But never "Xloped" them really in so much heavy duty competition... These people never managed it to do a hair trick with their cars, or even reach my numbers...So... I didnt change the subs "randomly". It was the plan to use the cheap red ones in the beginning, with 6 amps, and then 12 silver ones with 12 amps later. I calculated the bandpass for several speakers. Sure, the frequency responses are a little different from speaker to speaker, but I calculated that also. I personally think it looked the best with the CV VMAX in it. (Blue light pic). I still have the light to see the VMAX not just in blue. Can switch between the light colors. If I will put in Atomic APs, I think I can add 1-2 dB and a better performance. Lets see what I can do... I Loved my Sony Xplods subs , i had two 12 sealed in my Golf mk3 a couple years ago , and i was Shaking store windows with that. LOL :-) Headunit - Pioneer AVH-P4250 DVD 4 - infinity reference 6.5 a pair of infinity reference tweeters 1 - AudioQue AQ-120.4 amplifier for mids & highs 1 - AudioQue AQ-2200D Monoblock 1 - AudioQue HDC315 KitAudio kerf ported Enclosure 4 - Stinger pro series signal wires 20ft Stinger 1/0Ga power & Ground wires Big Three Upgrade 1 - Kinetik HC1800 (Not Here yet . .Still Saving up for one)
The Big Oki
hehehe...digging out this old threat and might share it with some "misbelievers" on facebook what still think sony is crap...its not crap, it reasonable priced, well engineered stuff for entry level "purses" with being higher level (than most guys expect) quality. beeing an electronic giant allows you to priduce stuff very cheap with still very good quality. sure, its more "calculated" and designed for masses than for specialists, but still "worth" to be used even by specialists...heck, i hope you get what i mean...lol and now TRYING to get this into more heads. what is, and will always be, an endless fight... just too good that i am holding hands on the other end of the price range too, or people just will say i am just telling sony is so great bc i cannot afford the "real stuff" lol ps. everyone have a good 2015!!! i am still busy (a bit more on homecinema doings with recent adjusting my double bass array with 2 15 strokers and 8 (!!!) 18" strokers in my homecinema room. works pretty well so far ) maybe pics later in a seperate thread. have lots of tax work to do Üüüühh!!!
