Jmoney2544
OK, so I've had this problem forever and can't seem to crack it or find the source of it. This is what happens, i can hear my alternator whine through my speakers...gets higher pitched as i rev. I can put the volume to 0 and it will play just as loud. I also hear some of my electronics such as when i'm closing my sunroof, or putting on my blinkers through my speakers too. Here are all the things I've tried, and if you have any suggestions at all or any way of fixing this please speak cause i'm all out of idea's. Tried... Ground Loop Isolater Noise Filters Different Head Unit Power Wire's On one side, Speaker wire and RCA's on other side Checked to see if Headunit and Amps were grounded With a Meter (They Are) If you have any questons on the equipment i have, Its all listed in my sig. theTank77
Its a common problem in GM vehicles. if you are running non restrictor plugs and/or wires it could be your problem. Quote my build log

armykyle1
What kind of HU? edit... since you have a poineer and their infamous for this, ground the outside of the RCA to the chassis of the HU Quote TEAM XS POWERTEAM HEAVY HERTZMy build- http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194454-e46-bmw-build-pos/#entry2914134youtube- http://www.youtube.com/user/armykyle1big build starting
armykyle1
you have a pioneer. You have a blown pico fuse. thats the issue. i"ve switched out the radio with a brand new one.. same thing happens then you need to recheck all the connections to your HU, try pulling it out run a good + and - lead to the HU and see if the issue keeps happening. Use deductive reasoning and pioneers will do that out of the box sometimes... Stereolab
Ground your HU all the back to the same grounding point as your amps with 10g wire. Pull all extraneous connetions from HU, like the antenna jack, those could be grounding out also. Make sure you HU metal case isn't grounding out. Make sure your amps metal casings aren't grounding out. Run new RCAs directly from HU to amps over your seats. My god there are a million things to try... Google and start making a list... within an hour you should have 100 items on that list to try. Every time I finish an install I have to fix at least 2 causes of alt whine and they are never the same 2 causes.
