amp related, but also sub related... o_O

Recommended Posts

ok, so currently I have a Kicker DX500.1 amp & a pair of Kicker 12"Comps in an enclosure.

I've got a second enclose just sitting there and have decided to remove all seats in my Astro van(a side from driver/passenger ofcourse).

anyway, in the 2nd enclosure I'm probably just going to put a pair of 12" Kicker CompVR's & get that 1000.1 amp for them.

is that a good idea or should I do things differently?

Personally, I'd ditch the comps and that other amp, and just get 4 CVR's. I have two CVR's in a ported enclosure and gonna get a AP15001D to push them. They get fuckin loooud. Or, just get one other CVR and have 3. That'd be loud as tits.

Current setup in my 96 Hoe

Hu - Pioneer DEH-80prs.

Amps - (4) Crossfire C5 1700D's, MTX Thunder 5604(mids), PPI Art 300.2 (tweets)

Batts - 4 91ah rear batts, 50ah batt up front.

Subs - 2 Crossfire XSv2 18's

Alt - Singer 330A

Front stage - Random JL & Eclipse mids, Eclipse tweets

hmm... well, i do want CVR's... and would prefer a single 'big' enclosure for 4 of them, but then i'd have these 2 extra enclosures i'd be stuck with.

i guess for now possibly, just get a pair of CVR's & that 1000.1 amp... then try to sell the current subs/amp & go from there.

$500-1000 for a wall, depending on the shop and how much work you do yourself.

Build a box for the 4 12's. Subs up, port back, put them on a 1000-1500w amp, call it a day.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

Hammerdown... 1%

Yeah, just sell the other 2 enclosure's on ebay or craiglist or something. But the CVR's and that 1000.1 amp should sound great. Much louder than those comp's, for sure.
