DAMN......

First and foremost man nice truck. Second much props for putting in the work, asking questions and listening to the advice. I'm 35 and been in to Car Audio since I was about your age but, didn't do my first system until I was 16 and no way close to this. Third, Blackedout and Loganberry almost brought a tear to my eye seeing how far they have come since they first joined this community.

I have not sat down and read a thread from the beginning and read through more than a page or two in years. This is page nine and I just finished reading all nine pages. It peaked my interest because I own a 98 ext. cab silverado, I never did a build log on any of the systems but, you have truely inspired me to do one now. I've done the pre-fab sealed box with 2 12's, Sealed 3 10's, Ported 6 10's and finally decided to remove the back seat and currently running 2 15's ported corner loaded on both sides.

However, I had a baby recently and need to put the back seat back in. Rolling with no system is never an option. Hell I bought a brand new Van back in February and within two weeks I ripped out the stereo. Anyways, your build log has been so inspiring and helpful with the pics. I knew I was going to glass the bottom of the enclosure but, wasn't sure about the amps. I couldn't remember if I could mount them on the back wall and still have clearance for the seat to fold up and down. Also seeing the mounting depth you have solidified my idea of what to run.

I'll be honest I am not on this forum as much as I used to be so I may not know how this build finishes but, I truely hope to check back in a couple of weeks. Good Luck man you are doing an awesome job, especially for being 15 and your first box. I have lost count on how many boxes I have built over the past 20 years and I am still learning. Thanks for the inspiration.

Dude thank you so much! You made my day man. That is truly awesome you said that. I had to read that to my mom. Haha I can't believe people like this build so much!! And thank you for the compliments on my truck. It seriously is my everything. Bass has been a big part of me for a few years but I haven't ga a vehicle to put it in. Nothing is as incredible as bass in my opinion. I am working so hard on this build and I even lose sleep over it lol. All I think about. I an goin to re-build the box part so I can front fire the subs. If I'm gonna do it I'm gonna do it right. Hate to say it but once the box is done the build will slow down because I need Money for the subs and amp. :) if I front fire the subs and the port goes out the side will I be good? Thanks again man. Means alot. You guys keep me motivated. Glad I inspired you.

My opinion on subs up is not to do it. Most of the bigger builds that are under the seat have been subs forward port side. Not saying subs up wouldn't work. Just saying maybe talking to someone who has a setup similar to what you want to do and get there opinion. Hope this helps in some way

Okay the first thing I did today was tear my box apart for the Re-build. It sucked so bad to see what you have worked so hard on tore apart. But if I am going to do this I want to do it right.

108_0067.jpg

After cutting a new front piece I was sanding the edges so I didn't get slivers. I was using just a plain old piece of sand paper and hand sanding. A piece of wood went through the paper, through one finger, out the side and into the next. My dad was raking leaves I yelled for him and he had to pull my fingers apart. Holy shit it hurt.

108_0068.jpg

Here is the fingers. Went in the completely through the one with the band aid and into the next. Aching a lot now.

108_0069.jpg

Here is the new front piece how it will sit and you can see how far out the other one used to come.

108_0071.jpg

The one side is already moved in five inches so the port can breathe. What if i move the passenger side in two or three inches also, so I can go as high as the brackets instead of under them. I'm not sure which would give me more air.

Under

Move over three inches and go as high as.

By the way that isn't the actual length the sides will be. I just used it to show you guys. My question now is, do I still have room to port the sundown sa-8's?? Please let me know. I figure since the front was tapered in to the seat i cant be losing TO MUCH air space.. I'm not sure. Please let me know what you guys think. Will I still have room?
