blcrocker
I have two Type R 12's going in a box im making and was wondering if my volume and tuning are good. I did try to stay within the specs that came with my subs. Here are the specs on the box im planning; H=15" W=32" D=20" V=4.41 ft cubed. after displacement of port and woofers its 4.01 @32Hz. Also its dual ported with round ports 4" in diameter and 12.3" long. JasonJones
How much power are you going to be running to these subs? And I'm by no means a box design master but I'm getting 5.51cft before displacement. Of course that's not considering what you're using for wood/bracing etc. Also I believe displacement of the driver and ports would consume more volume that 1/2 a cube. SnowDrifter
You are going to want about double the port are you have now. I came up with 6 1/4 sq in/cu ft for the box. You want at least 10 per foot for aero ports Edited November 29, 2011 by SnowDrifter Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
blcrocker
i believe something may have gone terribly wrong while using the box calculator Quote '01 Honda Accord EX 4 Cyl4/18/13 Started new build Headunit: JVC kdx250bt Sub Amp: Hifonics Hifi 2000d Door Amp: Rear Amp: Sub(s): SQ HDC3-12 Battery(s): Stock Wire: Knu 1/0 and 4awg Big3:

loudNlow87
Trade some of that box volume for more port area. You only need about 3.5 cubes for two 12's. That's not all that great dude.. That's just over 6" per cube. He's right about it being better than two 4" ports, but still.. It's gonna be around a foot long. But the length isn't what determines your port area. Well, I guess it does slightly in the sense that it takes up box volume. But port area is the measured by width x height or the diameter with a round port. Just doesn't seem enough for me I guess..
