Just wanted to say thanks to Steve for the DD-1 and the guys who also helped create it. It is indeed an awesome product!

Upon tuning my equipment, here is what I have come up with:

H/U: Panasonic CQ-C9800U (Volume = 0-40) (all speakers in the car are connected to the head unit)

Before: I used to turn up my volume to 27 and sometimes up to 30

After: I just found out that my deck DOES NOT CLIP and I can max it out at 40/40...which is insane.

Amp: Digital Designs M3a

Before: I had the gain up a little past half

After: With the 40hz -15db (Track 7), I am able to tune it precisely, and given that my headunit doesn't clip, I get maximum signal.

End:

My system is now dialed in, no distrotion, no clipping, and it HITS harder!

**Note: As I was trying to tune the deck to find out where the 1khz (Track 2) maximum volume was, it did not detect a signal...and the highs were piercing my ear drums lol

I double checked everything twice to be sure I wasn't missing a step:

H/U: Everything was flat

Amp: LPF turned all the way up, Infrasonic Filter all the way down, Gain all the way down

Turned to Track 2, and it didn't detect a signal and didn't light up the 1khz led either. I tried all (3) 1khz tracks and still no luck. So I am not sure that I am 100% dialed in, but close to it. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks guys!

I had a very similar problem when I got my dd-1 two days ago.. and havent really looked into much. Curious as to what is the proper way to do this..

My headunit (alpine cda117) was distortion free aswell, but couldn't get a signal or anything what I tried to do my woofers amp (hifonics bxi2610)

So your saying that when you went to tune the amp, that it wasn't detecting a signal and the 40hz track? My only problem is my system isn't able to detect a signal from the 1khz track...and I've tried all of them.

I got it. The misread something in the manual. I just took one of the rca's from my amp, plugged it directly into the DD-1, ran the cd, and BOOM! Got the signal on both the 40hz an 1khz, and yielded same results as before...NO CLIPPING from the deck!

Actually, I just tuned my buddys deck just a few mins ago...so simple and easy to do. Thanks again Steve!

What you do is find 20 people you now that have systems (and who don't own a DD-1), ask them to borrow $5 each, go buy it, turn around and tune their shit for free...nothing says thank you like a clean unclipped signal lol
