how do you wire a second alternator to your electrical system?

i have been thinking of adding a dual alt setup for my cars electrical system. if i get the bracket and mount my second alternator do i just wire the second alts harness in parallel with the stock one?

This is almost impossible to find. I don't want to have to buy a box for it either.

What is your application / car? I am of the understanding that it is bad juju putting two internally regulate alts in one system, because they will never be exactly at the same voltage... but it seems to me that which ever one is lower will kick in when the load is applied. :shrug:

Dude, that doesn't make sense, you want 2 alts to run your electrical in your vehicle? Instead of one for your vehicle, safe and sound, and one solely for you system without putting strain on the rest of vehicle components? I must be missing something?
